MADELINE RECEIVED A message from Jensen a few days later. She had told Billie about what happened in the dorm hallways and Billie seemed thrilled. She had heard of Jensen—he was a child prodigy training to be a soul doctor. He had been 'rated' one of the most attractive people on campus.

Wanting to keep things simple and comfortable, Jensen suggested meeting at a local cafe.

Madeline had no expectations of what was going to happen. But she was intrigued to see what Jensen was like.

Dressing in a skirt and beige jumper, she grabbed her back and started walking towards the cafe only two minutes away.

Jensen was already there when she arrived. Suddenly nervous, she tucked strands of her dark hair behind her ears and smiled at him. She strolled over to him and sat opposite.

"I ordered you a hot chocolate if that's okay," He said, gesturing to the cup in front of her.

"It's perfect, I love hot chocolate," She replied, curling her fingers around the cup. She locked eyes with Jensen, wracking her brain for something to say.

Thankfully, Jensen was natural at conversations and managed to start with small talk. They spoke about their likes and dislikes and the latest TV show they were watching.

"So, you want to be a soul doctor?" Madeline couldn't help but blurt out. Jensen had mentioned he was soulless when they first met, shamelessly. Not that it was a problem—most people didn't talk about it.

It made Madeline wonder why he would want to be a soul doctor.

Jensen rubbed the back of his neck and chuckled, "I find it fascinating." He started, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm not really sure what makes me want to be a soul doctor. Maybe I want to research more on it—find out why some people like me don't have a soul mate."
