Chapter 23

Iris

He...kissed me? Rhys Anderson. A billionaire CEO. I return the kiss. It feels oddly amazing. I pull away gently.

"Rhys..." I say. "Moonlight, thank you..." he says and hugs me tightly. "For what?" I ask him in a sweet tone and I  hug him back. "For not judging me. For being by my side. For everything, my moonlight," he whispers in my ear.

Rhys is so sweet to me. He kisses my forehead as the rain drenched us both. "Let's go inside, we can't get sick," says Rhys as he gets back onto his feet and helps me up.

We both go back inside, he's holding my hand. His father approaches us. "Son. I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to bring up... Your parents," his father says guiltyly. Rhys nods at him.

"Iris, we should leave," he says as he holds my hand and we both get into his car. "Awww, but I didn't even eat properly," I say as I frown. "Do you wanna go to the McDonald's drive-thru?" he sighs with a smirk.

"Yessss," I say excitedly. That's exactly what he does. We go to the drive-thru and he buys me a 6-piece chicken nuggets, fries and a large coke. He buys himself the same thing.

"Thanks," I say while we ate in his car, in the McDonald's parking lot. "No problem," he smiles softly. After we finish eat, he drives me back home. It's currently 9pm.

"Rhys...what are we now?" I ask him curiously. "I don't really know," he says softly. "We'll figure out everything once this is all over. Once you're proven innocent," he reassures me.

We reach my home at 9:30pm. He comes at my doorstep as I go inside. He hugs me goodbye and drives home. I love him. I'm surprised to be saying that to myself but it's the truth.

I doubt he feels the same way. I won't confess. All I need to focus on now is stabilizing my career. My future depends on it.

For some reason my sister is out the house late. I don't know how, but our bank accounts are empty. Only I know the password. So how...?

I take a quick shower. The rain drenched my clothes so I put them in the washing. After I take a shower I decide to text Rhys because I'm bored.

"You awake?"
"No"
"Alright, what you doing?"
"Talking to you."
"Were you about to sleep?"
"Well I was trying to sleep."
"Oops sorry I was just bored."
"It's fine."
"Goodnight, idiot."
"Goodnight, moonlight."
"I hope rats eat you while you're asleep."
"Sure sure."
"Heheh."

I hear the front door closing. I wonder who it is. I slowly go downstairs and peek to see who it is. It's Avery. She didn't spot me yet. I run back up to my room. Hmm I wonder why she was out so late. Does she have a boyfriend or something?
