~ September 2018 ~

Today's English assignment has caused me to wreckfully strike a faltering nerve; one that has forgotten that life should be good now and there are no tears left to cry under these profoundly new circumstances the grand move to Silver Lake has provided us with.

" Isabel, is everything alright? "

Harry stared at me perplexed of why I barely peeped out a single syllable since we arrived at his house to get our homework done. It wasn't necessarily helping that our History project regarding the Boston Tea Party was also due soon. How was I to tell him that I won't even be in Silver Lake this weekend and actually spend it at my Abuela Maria and Abuelo Pedro's house in Downtown?

" Yeah, I'm fine... " I insisted in an unsteady tone. Truth be told, I didn't really know what to say to the oblivious boy who was bound to become my best friend.

Is it even appropriate of me to mention my estranged family dynamic to Harry when we've only known eachother for three whole weeks? I suppose I must though, considering there's a good chance Harry will eventually realize I'm absent next door every single weekend. I have no clue how the hell we're going to complete our History project when I'll literally be miles away from him. I never thought it would be possible for this estranged family dynamic of mine to cause us to fail our History project.

" Harry, there's something I should tell you... " I faced him in a completely stern and serious matter when formally enuncuating every following word likely to end in doom.

" If it's Max playing his Shawmilla playlist so goddamn loud, I swear I can tell him to tone it down. " Harry assured me, unaware of what I'm about to say is not in fact complaints of what is music to my ears.

" I won't be here tomorrow since I'm heading to my grandparents house. I go there every weekend in case you haven't noticed. "

" Ah, I presume this means we won't be able to work on our Boston Tea Party assignment? " He asked, showcasing unhinged disappointment. I responded with a simple nod and a sad sigh.

" It's a sign of the times... " I heard Harry confidently mutter underneath his breath. It's odd enough to hear Harry softly recite a Harry Styles song reference, and it's clearly odder to hear him do so during a time like this.

Harry's gorgeous eyes brightened up, giving off the impression that he has managed to solve a portion of our problem thanks to a Harry Styles song. " We gotta getaway from here.... So is it crazy if I have my dad drop me off at your grandparents on Saturday? "

" That'd be fine. " I replied, a bit stunned that I hadn't already thought of that solution already. " I don't think that Abuela Maria would mind that at all, though I can't guarantee that she won't tease us. "

" What's that supposed to mean? " He curiously raised a brow, befuddled what I possibly could've meant with that statement.

" Oh, you'll see exactly what I mean and I apologize in advance. "

" Well it can't possibly be any worse than what Leo-" Harry begun to spoke up but immediately halted, leaving his sentence incomplete. It's cute that he thinks that I'm oblivious to the fact that Leo calls me Harry's girlfriend despite the fact that the both of us are just friends... for now.

I played dumb and pretended I'm utterly baffled to what Leo says. Instead, I decided to interrogate Harry with questions regarding how the hell he knows the lyrics to a Harry Styles song.
