"you mean skylar?" i asked.
"right, skylar." she agreed.
"i dont know what's up with you guys thinking i like nika but it's annoying." i huffed, sipping my drink.
she started smiling, "i believe you."
i groaned, "you smile when you lie."
she covered her mouth with her hands, "i believe you." she said again, muffled.

nika's pov i sat on the couch, paying no attention to the people around me.
they were drunk and miserable. actually, i'm miserable, they're just drunk.
i don't even know why i even bothered coming, i don't like parties.
i was about to go find the bathroom, when i got stopped by some girl.
"who's rodman?" she said, reading the back of my shirt.
i realized she was referencing to the back of my jersey.
"dennis rodman.." i said, in an annoyed tone.
"wait, i know him! doesn't he play tennis?!" she said confidently, with a smile on her face.
i saw a drink in her hand, maybe she was just drunk, or maybe she was stupid and uncultured. i'm going with the latter.
i just walked away, walking into the kitchen, of the big house, looking for one of my friends.
i had no luck though.
i stayed in the kitchen for a while, listening to the loud music, and watching the dancing people, when someone threw up.
that was my cue to leave so, i made my way out front.
i took out my phone as i sat on the stairs, about to text the group chat, when i heard someone say my name.
"nika?" i looked over, and it was adriana. ugh.
"yeah?" i said, scrolling on my phone.
"why aren't you inside, you missed it, skylar did a keg stand and fell." she said, laughing.
i wanted to laugh, but i didn't want adriana thinking we were friends or something.
"you aren't drinking?" she asked me, sitting down next to me.
"nah, i'm driving. you?" i asked, looking down.
"i don't drink." she said, looking at me while i looked away.
"why?" i asked, finally looking at her.
she looked away, and got silent. then she finally spoke up.
"dennis rodman, interesting choice." she said, trying to switch the conversation. she does that alot, i've noticed.
i stared at her for a while.
"you know who dennis rodman is?" i said, surprised she knows him. not saying he's underground at all, it's just, i would have never guessed adriana would know shit about basketball.
"you know i'm not an idiot right?" she said laughing. this caused me to laugh.
"maybe she's different than i thought.." i thought in my head, as i studied her features.
