I paced back and forth in the bathroom as I ran my fingers through my hair.

This is not happening, I thought to myself. This is not happening! I'm okay. He did not just kiss Ashlyn. This is a dream! A VERY inadequate dream.

I leant over the sink and stared at myself in the mirror. Deep breaths Emma, I thought. Breathe. I let out a deep shaky breath, then closed my eyes.

Okay. My life is over. I mean, that was no ordinary kiss! That was a cheesy romance movie kiss! A kiss that broke my heart into a million pieces.

I cannot believe Noah! How could he have done this! It doesn't make any sense! How could he kiss her and not me? I'm his best friend, not her!

I snapped my head up as I heard someone bam on the door impatiently. "Hey!" They yelled, "I have to pee!" It was a girl and I rolled my eyes. This is barbie's dream home. Couldn't she have found any other bathroom?

I cleared my throat, and yelled. "IN A MINUTE!"

"HURRY UP!" I groaned and sighed walking over to the door. I put my hand on the knob and before I opened the door I took yet another a deep breath to steady myself.

Okay. You know what you have to do Emma, go out there and act like this never happened. I opened the door and the girl from Math bursted in. She looked at me bug eyed before she steadily pushed me out of the door.

"Get out, get out, get out, GET OUT!" My eyes widened and I automatically turned around and watched the door slam right in my face.

I blinked a few times and then sighed. Well. I guess I better go out and face Noah. Time to put my best friend role in motion. I cringed at the word 'best friend' I guess I better get used to that. Because it looks like that's all I'll ever be.

I looked out into the living room from the shallow hall way. On the right of me I heard the toilet flush and the door opened like five seconds later.

There stood a smiling girl who let out a breath of air as she closed the door behind her. "That. Was. Refreshing!" She said, seeming to be in a more relaxed mood. Pee can change a man.

"So what are you doing here... In the hall way, I mean. Like are you waiting on someone?" I shook my head sadly and she looked at me curiously.

"Then why are you just standing here?" I didn't reply and she looked as if she realized something, and then started smiling like she knew something I didn't. "You're Noah's friend aren't you?" She asked like she knew the answer already, and I nodded.

"You know him?" I asked, and she smiled nodding.

"Yeah. We have chemistry. We sit next to each other. He talks to me... Sometimes." She shrugged nonchalantly.

"Oh. I'm Emma, by the way." She smiled and stuck her hand out for me to shake. Do teenagers even do that?

"Hazel." I shook her hand and have her a quick once over. She had jet black hair with two blue streaks in them and was dressed in all black from head to toe. Her shirt had a scull on it and underneath it said 'don't judge' I looked at her and raised my brow.

"You know, you don't really act like a goth." She laughed and flipped her hair forward.

"It's because I'm not. I just like dressing like this. Plus blue looks good on me." I nodded contently, then for some reason people started yelling out party related phrases. Which reminded me where I was. I seemed to have forgotten.

"Are you waiting on your friend?" She asked sweetly, and I looked down at my feet, shaking my head.

"No. I think I just wanna go home," I said, and she nodded.
