Period 6 - the last period of the day.

The room was dull, the curtains were closed and the English teacher was sitting at her desk in silence whilst the rest of the students finished off analyzing their texts. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The English teacher picked up her black Biro pen and began to mark a bunch of green books she had lying on her desk.

Ruba, Amy, Joseph, Willow and Michael were all extended across the classroom and evenly sprawled out. Michael, Joseph and Willow were using green highlighters and were connoting and denoting their texts. While Amy - who was closet to Ruba - tried to grab her attention. She started fidgeting in her seat, taping her pencil to try to get Ruba's attention from half way across the classroom. But all she received was an angry glare from the person sitting beside her. She didn't care though, she thought he smelt  of baked beans... and that is not an appealing smell. She scrunched up a piece of paper from the back of her book and threw it towards Ruba, just perfectly landing in front of her on her desk.

Years of being on the netball team had benefitted well for her.

"Is there something you wanted to share with us Amy?" the English teacher said in a pompous manner, her blond hair falling in front of her blue eyes which drilled into Amy’s soul.

"Eh, no Miss…" Amy said sharply to get rid of the teacher's attention.

Ruba opened the paper, only to find it empty and turned behind her and saw Amy staring at her, with every possible muscle in her face scrunched up. Ruba looked at her with the what-do-you-want face. Amy began doing hand gestures, little stories to try and talk to Ruba. Ruba threw the paper ball back, hitting Amy on the head. They instantly began lip reading each other.

Take the hex spell off Naomi!

No!

Do it now Ruba!

Why? You don't even like her. You never have!

C'mon. It's not nice. Just take the hex off... Now...

But Ruba refused and turned back to her work. Joseph on the other hand, had caught a glimpse of what was happening and managed to catch Amy's attention. Amy and Joseph were about a desk diagonal away, so Joseph whispered to Amy, "What's going on?"

"What do you think? I'm trying to get her to take the hex spell off!"

"Shut up. She’ll hear." Joseph hissed, nodding at the teacher.

"Sorry…"

"So... is she?"

"No, she isn't. Look we'll talk later, okay?"

"Fine."

The room fell to a silence again. All the heads were down, looking into their books. It was quiet. Tooquiet.

"Miss, miss, miss..." Naomi suddenly yelled, flapping her left hand to get their teacher's attention. The whole class just looked around the room to see everybody's expression towards Naomi's un-expected behaviour.

"What is it Naomi?" The teacher said while narrowing her eyes.

"Miss! I can't feel my right hand! I can't move it either! ... LOOK!" Naomi yelled, frightened.

The English teacher stood up and walked towards Naomi; the class just watching in anticipation.  "Let me have a look…"

"What do you mean, 'have a look?' There's nothing to see, unless you can feel my pain!" Naomi shrieked.

"Alright, alright. I'll get someone to take you to the medical room. Just bear with me."

The teacher asked a petite, brown-headed girl to escort Naomi out the room.

Naomi turned towards Ruba and hollered, "It was you who did this to me! I know it was you! You and your friends too! You're creeps you know that? Oh, I can't wait to get my hands on you lot. Just wait!”

Their English teacher walked towards Naomi and gently pushed her towards the door in silence saying.  "All right Naomi! There's no need to take this out on other people!"

Naomi was soon out of the room and Ruba's friends looked towards her in shame, giving her thesee-we-told-you look. Ruba lifted an eyebrow and took a deep breath and exhaled. "Okay, fine. You win. After school...together or no deal!" she demanded.

Michael shook his head as a reply for everyone.

The buzzer went and before anyone could run out the door, the teacher yelled out, "No gossiping about this! What happens in the classroom stays in the classroom!"
