Hey guys, I was gonna publish this yesterday but Wattpad was being a jerk...

They were getting closer to the tower no doubt, but this forest was just too huge.

"How tall are these trees?" Naruto asked, squinting up at the branches, he then tripped and almost fell from the branch they were running on.

"Who cares?" Sakura scoffed.

Naruto rolled his eyes, expected reaction.
He was wondering whether he should tell Sasuke that there was a pretty subtle chakra following them when a kunai flew at them.
Landing right near Sasuke's foot, who jumped back three spaces. The paper bomb attached to it exploded and created a smokescreen.

"WATCH OU-" Naruto shouted, but was cut off by the hissing of a snake.
A huge snake suddenly appeared from the smokescreen aiming for Sasuke.
Sasuke jumped back and threw some kunai with paper bombs at it.
They exploded but it wasn't of much use, and the huge monster kept attacking. Naruto looked around for Sakura who had jumped on a high branch and screaming.

Tch. Useless.
She could have started looking for the enemy but noooo...She will sit and scream. Stupid banshee.

The blonde then carefully placed his hand down, closed his eyes and sensed for chakra signatures.
There was one but he couldn't identify its location.

He opened his eyes and saw Sasuke being flung into a tree.

A part of him was shocked. Scared even, and desperately wanted to help out. This was the part he had in him since childhood.
And then, a part of simply smiled. It enjoyed seeing Sasuke in pain. Watching him get defeated was fun. This part wanted to stay here and enjoy seeing Sasuke getting killed. This was the part nurtured by the villagers. This hatred.

Naruto shook his head. Whenever his two sides had such contradicting opinions, he took the most rational decisions.
Watching this elite Uchiha die would be fun, but he needed him to pass. He could pass on his own, but he had to keep it low.

Need Sasuke to pass? Or don't want him to die?
Just a pawn? Or a friend?

The blond charged. The snake was about to collide head on with Sasuke when Naruto stopped it, only a few metres away from the Uchiha.
The snake was huge, he could feel its power struggling against his grip which was infused with Kurama's chakra.

Sasuke's face was priceless. It was as if he was sure that he would die but was saved at the last moment...
Wait. That's what happened! Ha!

All Naruto had to do to make Sasuke help him fight was taunt him, which is what he did.
"Are ya scared Scaredy cat?"

Sasuke black eyes glinted with challenge and he slowly took out his kunai.
The snake backed up and Sasuke and Naruto delivered a series of punches and kicks at it.

The snake was thrown back into a tree and fell down dead on the the branch.
Naruto and Sasuke stood there panting amd just when they thought their fight was over, the most disgusting thing happened.

The snake's stomach started moving weirdly amd burst open.
Out came a woman with long hair and a creepy smile.

They both gaped at the grisly sight and Naruto vaguely remembered seeing her before this test began.

She was from some other small village...The Hidden Grass maybe.
She gave him the creeps and he took a step back. She wiped the slimy mucus off her skin and smiled at the boys.
"Aren't you strong?" She asked. Sasuke was panting hard and Naruto wasn't in a much better shape. But they had to fight.

"What scroll do you have?" Naruto asked.
"Doesn't matter really." She replied as she started walking towards them.
"What, why should we fight unnecessarily?" Sasuke growled.

Is he dumb? Naruto thought incredulously.
"You're so naive." The ninja suddenly merged into the trees and vanished and popped right behind Naruto. Before he could react she had already taken his scroll and stood smiling at them from a distance.

"Wha-" The blond began, but the woman shushed him.
Naruto looked at Sasuke, who was a ll beaten up...no good.
He looked up at Sakura but regretted it that very second. How could he expect her to be of any use? She was already sobbing.

If they failed now... And if he used Kurama's power.
The fact that this Hidden Grass ninja had managed to steal the scroll from him was enough proof of her strength. It was some high level sneak shit.

This is bad. I swear I still feel his presence but it's so cleverly hidden! And on top of that this ninja!

She is strong.

Gee, thanks Kurama. I had no clue. HOW DO I BEAT HER?

By thinking rationally. This is an important stage for my host... Can't give ya cheat codes.

Amazing.

With an angry huff, Naruto surrendered.
"Alright, ya cam have the scroll, no need to fight." S
Sasuke glared at him but he k se he was in no state to fight. They'd just have to get both scrolls from some random team.

"It's not about the scroll..." The woman....hissed? That's sort of how her voice was. Sort of graceful but laced with venom. Like she was a snake leading its prey to its death using sweet words.

And then she swallowed it.

She goddamn swallowed the damn scroll.

Naruto had seen enough.

"What. The. Actual. Hell. Lady. Are. You. Mentally. Alright." He was so mad.

Wait Kit, I think-

"Aw. Hell. No. Lady. You're. So. Going. Down."

Sasuke glared at him, and the woman smiled.
"Who are you extra? I have business only with the  Uchiha."

Extra? Did she just? Me? Extra??
What is this show called again???

Kit you're breaking the fourth wall. Please.

"What is your problem lady?" Naruto shouted.
Sasuke stood up. God knows what went on in that Uchiha brain of his...

Revenge, probably.
Anyways, of course Sasuke shouldn't (and wouldn't) fight right now...

"Let's fight." Sasuke said addressing the snake birthed woman.

Aw hell no. What is wrong with this creature?

"Sasuke don't -" Sakura began, but Sasuke ran out before she could complete.

He ran at the snake lady, making signs for the Fire Phoenix Flower Jitsu and even executed it well, but the snake lady was just too good.

She dodged his attacks with a graceful air, almost like a snake. She counterattacked Sasuke with wierd wind jutsus and several punches.
Poor Sasuke was knocked down quite a few times.

"I had hoped you were better. I wished to see your...Sharingan....but it seems you don't yet possess the skill.
Maybe you're just weak. You don't possess the power or hatred to achieve your goal... isn't that right?
You'll never be able to beat your brother like this."
She creeped closer to the raven haired boy, who groaned down. She sat down next to him and talked softly.
"What you need is power. You won't find it here. And without any hatred, without any will or resolve, you can never kill Itachi."

Sasuke's eyes flared with hot anger, and he shouted loudly, "Shut your crap!"
