The ghost took three hours to appear in a grand disguise. He wore a big leather shoes, somewhat loose for him, took a horse-pistol and crept into the corridor. He found the door of the twins' room half-open. To frighten them he flung the door wide open. A heavy jug of water fell right down on him, wetting him thoroughly.
The twins burst into laughter befooling him. He fled back to his room, but the water had already done him harm. He caught severe cold, but consoled himself, thinking that the consequences might have been very serious if he had brought his head with him.
