Chapter 4

Alexandra's Pov

After my shower I started to feel a little bit like myself again. When I entered the kitchen, a sweet smell entered my nostrils. I looked around and the only people I saw were my parents and Hunter. I didn't pay much attention though because the moment I saw his smug face my anger flared. He came close to me "happy birthday Alexandra" he told me and then he whispered for only me to hear "it should had been you mutt".

Tears flooded my eyes instantly and I pulled myself away from him. I felt my heart break once again with his words and walked towards my parents. I tried to put me together and sat on the island. My mother served strawberry pancakes and started to talk about my graduation in a week. After Hunter left the kitchen, I showed them the envelop I received yesterday.

It had totally slipped my mind after last day's events but I thought it was time for me to face the music. I gave my mother my envelop and silently pleaded her to open the envelop. She took it from my hands and before she opened it I told her "please mum tell me only if it good news. Also I would like to stay between us please." With that said I waited to see her reaction.

"Baby girl, my princess I'm so happy for you!" she yelled. "My baby girl is going to be a doctor. The only thing that saddens me is that you'll be far away. Do you have to go to the other side of the country?" she said with mixed feelings. "we've talked about this love" my father said with tears in his eyes. "it is time for our girl to spread her wings and fly away from the nest."

"What if she finds her mate here?" my mother asked full of hope. "Then we will see what happens, won't we?" my father said. When I looked at the clock I gasped, I was late for school. As I run upstairs to get my backpack, I smelled the sweet smell again. My feet followed the smell and suddenly I stopped infront of Hunter's room.

The door opened with force and he pulled me inside his room. The moment our hands touched sparks ignited all over my body. I stood in the middle of his room as he closed the door looking at him. I can't believe it, for a second I doubt my senses. But then I'm forced back to reality.

"Are you my mate?" I whisper not quite sure. But how could I smell him? I have to shift first, only an Alpha from a strong bloodline can find his mate before he shifts and I'm only a beta's daughter. "I can't believe it! Hunter" my words are stopped when he grabbed my arm and shook me. ""Are you mad? How could you possibly believe that I would accept you as my mate? You are not suited to be my Luna, you may be strong but other than that you lack in everything. This must be a joke" I heard him shout at me.

I just stood there frozen, trying to comprehend the words that flew out of his mouth. Why Goddess, why? First I find out that he is my mate, a dream come true but at the same time also a nightmare and then he has the nerve to talk to me like that? Before I could form another sentence I hear him say " I Hunter Black future Alpha of the Black Water Pack reject you Alexandra Carter as my mate and Luna of my pack"

Sharp pain courses through me and for a few moments I'm not able to think or speak. I just look at him with pain all over me. He looks pale as he grabs a chair to steady himself. When I feel comfortable to talk again I say the words that every mate dreads to hear "I Alexandra Carter accept your rejection". I turn toward the door and as I leave his room I glance at him for the last time.
