I was anxious as I glanced at the clock in Emily and Sams kitchen. Jacob said he'd be here at 5pm to see me before he left to take Bella up to the mountains, cue dramatic eye roll. To say I wasn't happy with the arrangement was an understatement, I was furious but it's what had to be done. She trusted him so a plan was devised for him to carry her through the woods spreading her scent to draw the leeches to the clearing picked for the battle under the pretense that she'd be there then he would take her up into the mountains where her and Edward would wait out the battle. To me the plan was stupid, they started all this and they get to sit out of harms way while the pack and his family fight, uncertain about whether they will all make it out alive. I'm guessing by now it's clear how much I dislike the pair.

"Nat you here?"

I heard Jacob call from outside so I rushed out to greet him leaping into his arms, he easily caught me and buried his face in the crook of my neck.

"I'll only be a few hours, once I drop her off to Edward I'll be back okay"

I gave him a soft kiss before reluctantly letting him go, waving as he jogged back through the treeline.

"He's staying up there"

I shot Seth a glare as he sheepishly backed out of the room, he'd just come off patrol and Jacob had given him a message to pass onto me

"What do you mean staying up there?"

I growled as I stalked closer to my younger cousin who was looking increasingly scared.

"Uh they didn't realise how cold it actually gets up in the mountains so Jake volunteered to stay to-"

His eyes darted around the room as he struggled to think of the best way to finish his sentence only I knew what he was going to say already, it was obvious. He was going to stay there to keep her warm, he was practically a walking space heater and Edward was the equivalent of a deep freeze, she'd probably die of hypothermia without Jake. Though I didn't like her or the situation I wasn't heartless and I knew it meant nothing so I simply shrugged my shoulders and gave Seth a pat on the head

"It's okay Seth I get it, sorry I got worked up. I guess I'll head home now"

I made a move for the door but Emily stepped in my way to stop me

"No please Nat, I want you to stay here the night. I'd feel better if we were all together, Kims on her way over and I think it will put their minds at ease knowing were together and safe"

She said as she motioned to the rest of the pack outside. After a few seconds I nodded my head and went to sit at the table, Leah dropped into the seat beside me

"You okay?"

She nudged me gently with her elbow and I sighed

"Honestly I don't know, but I could use a shot of Jack right about now"

She chuckled and leapt to her feet going straight for one of the kitchen cupboards

"I know Emily keeps a bottle around here somewhere"

Her eyes widened suddenly and she clapped her hands together

"Jackpot"

She sat down with three glasses and the bottle of whiskey and when I quirked an eyebrow at her she tilted her head towards the door, just as I looked over Kim walked in the door looking gloomy. So that's why she got three

"Right on time Kimmy, pull up a seat and grab a glass"

I called as Leah went about pouring shots, of course shy Kim looked conflicted but after a quick glance out at Jared who was rough housing with the guys she took the empty seat on the other side of me and picked up a glass.
