It was dark, why was it so dark. The child laid curled up in the embrace of a red eyed girl, pained whimpers spilling from her lips as her head pounded against her eyes, crimson seeping into the white wraps around her skin. "I know it hurts" she heard Eri coo as the older girl raked her fingers through the child's locks, gently scratching her scalp to offer some comfort to the child who's labored breaths began to grow scarily slow as the lids of her eyes threatened to close
"Hurt" she cried burrowing her face into Eri's body, fingers tightening into the back of the pale haired child's dress. "Hurt, hurt" she sobbed feeling her limbs sting against every bit of fabric that scathed her legs
The memory of a large beast staring down at her with veiny bulging eyes and scarred flesh covered in her blood engraved itself into the back of her eyelids, appearing every time she blinked. "No more" she sniffled
"I know, I know it hurts" the older sobbed "I- I'm sorry, I'm sorry I can't protect you" Eri cried into the child's hair, tears welling in her eyes after witnessing the overwhelming pain that screamed across the younger's body. "You might go in a little bit" the older child warned "but maybe then he'll get rid of the pain" Eri spoke grimacing at the thought of the child being reset, the vision of Chisaki's gloved hand reaching out to her in her half conscious state much too familiar
"No go, no go, I stay" she sobbed "I stay with you" the child cried "you no go, then, then I no go"
Eri could only coo and rub the child's head, not being able to say that she would stay because then she'd be lying. She could never say 'I'll stay' or 'I'm not going anywhere' because they'd both would know that'd be blatant deception
They lay like that, sobbing into each other embraces until a gentle knock rattled against the door, a sudden click being heard and Eri slipped from the girl's arms, jumping from the bed to stand near the door. The sight of the white cloaked, plague masked man greeting them. No comment left his lips before Eri's arm was tugged and she was pulled up into Chronostasis's arms
"Eri" the child screamed, seeing a remorseful look cross Eri's face before the door of the room slammed shut. It was quiet, extremely quiet, her pained breaths spilling into the silence, her sobs rattling throughout the room. The very dark room, why must it be so dark

The child sat quietly atop the bed with her head down, hearing the shuffling of feet as Aizawa righted all the toppled furniture. A tray of cooked grains lay before her, though it was left abandoned as it rested on the bedside table
"Sowwy" she sniffed, lips pursed, her voice nasally as she wiped her nose. "I'm sowwy" she whimpered rubbing at her red eyes
"Hey sweetheart, I told you that's enough apologies" Aizawa sighed, settling down a chair before shuffling over, crouching down in front of the child who sat with her legs swinging off the edge of the bed. "You never have to apologize for being scared" he coaxed and the child shook her head
