Lena's: POV
I just finished cooking dinner and waiting for Stef to come home from work. Francesca is upstairs doing her homework, we leave for our trip to New York on Friday
I'm looking forward to be getting away from LA a bit
My oldest daughter won't be able to come because she's in the middle of taking her final exams. Francesca is a little disappointed cause Callie isn't coming down, l know she values her independence. Even though she's an adult
I go and set the table, l got our airplane tickets and made reservations for us to stay at the Shelton hotel. Stef doesn't want us staying at her parents house, in a way I don't blame her. I made sure the hotel has a swimming pool
Because Francesca loves the water, love l'm home Stef calls out from the foyer. I go greet my wife with a kiss
Baby what took you so long, you know how worry l get
Lena said. Sorry babe we had a last minute arrest
Stef replied, go get washed up and dinner will be ready by the time your done with your shower Lena States
Where's little miss at Stef asks me. Upstairs in her room doing her homework, Lena replies. I had lunch with Alex earlier, l tell you that girl works to much hopefully she can enjoy herself on this trip Stef says to me. Honey l understand your concern for your sister, maybe she throws herself into her work cause she's lonely Lena explains. I never seen Alex so sad before, l could smack the shit out of that woman who broke my baby sisters heart. Stef tells me, sweetheart whatever that happen
Between Alex and her ex girlfriend is her business
I know you wanna make it all better but Alex is a big girl who can take care of herself Lena said, l hear what your saying. I promise my parents l would look out for Alex
I just want to see her happy, she spends so much time
at her office. I bet she never goes home, l'm telling you
Lena if Alex keeps it up she's gonna end up having a meltdown or something worse Stef says. As she heads up the steps, Francesca came down and sat down
Mommy was that Mama's voice l heard Francesca asked me, yes Lena told her daughter. What's going on with aunt Alex is she okay Francesca Stated, honey your aunt Alex is fine. Lena doesn't go into further detail, mommy l know l'm eight but I'm not stupid something's going on

Lena didn't realize how loud her and Stef were talking
Your mom is just concerned about Alex working so much
Lena said. I miss her she use to come over all the time for dinners and stuff, Francesca explained. Well you're see her at your grandparents anniversary party Saturday, Lena tries to lift Francesca's spirits. Really Francesca said
Make sure you come straight home from school so we can go shopping to pick out a gift, plus I need to find a dress and shoes. I'll treat you to a pedicure Lena tells Francesca
Stef finally came down and walks in the dining room and took a seat at the table, l passed her the salad bowl to Stef
She filled her plate up. Francesca already had hers full
We ate dinner, l love moments like this with my wife and daughter. Callie called me at work to tell me, she'll try to make it home next weekend. She's been super busy with midterms, Stef shares with me. That's funny cause when I spoke with her today she told me she wouldn't be able to make it down. Maybe l misinterpreted her, Francesca sees the confusion on Lena's face. She felt the same way Francesca continues to eat her food, she wasn't paying attention to what her parents was talking about.
