33| Late Night Pay Off

The rest of the days seemed to breeze on by and then we had hopped onto a plane and now landed in Austria for the Austrian GP. We headed out of the airport into the car that was supposed to pick us up. 

After quickly putting our luggage in the trunk we climbed in and started the short trip to the hotel. Again me and Charles just decided to share a room so we got two key cards and made our way up to the top floor where the room was. 

The hotel room had a beautiful view of the track and everything going on there. Fans were already crowding the track even though today was only a set up day. 

Both me and Charles decide it would be good to go down to the garage just to catch up with the team and see whats happening. We enter the paddock together because now I had an excuse to be with Charles everywhere. When we get to the garage everyone is sitting and talking not really doing much work. They greet me and Charles then go back to whatever they were doing. 

Me and Charles both only had one thing scheduled for today and that was a brief meeting going over previous data from races. We both head over to the Ferrari hospitality building where all the work and meetings happen. I grab my notebook and laptop and sit down in the meeting room. Charles comes and sits next to me also opening his laptop. 

Mattia also comes in and after a minute of two everyone is here. Carlos comes in as well and sits next to Charles and greets him and me. "Congrats on the job" He says. "Who told you" I said knowing I hadn't told anyone yet. "This man over the phone he was so excited." Charles slaps him on the head playfully as a shut up and me and Carlos just laugh. Soon after one of the performance engineers starts the meeting talking about just the basic stuff like what position we finished and what tires we used.

The meeting bores on as they keep repeating the same information until I finally ask about our strategy and they go quiet. Then I start talking about what we did wrong and what we need to do to fix it. After I'm done I let some of the other engineers explain the smaller detail and don't really pay attention because I already understand. 

I scoot my chair underneath the table and focus on my computer when I feel a large hand land on my thigh. Charles was facing forward and nodding on to what the engineer was saying while silently moving his hand up and down my thigh. I shoot him a subtle look and see the tips of his lips lift up. I try not to make it obvious when I try to move it off of my thigh because I was scared that someone would see. 

My attempt only fuels him to start going higher and start to squeeze my thigh. Suddenly Mattia clears his throat loudly and then everyone goes quiet. I thought for sure that we had been caught when Mattia stood up and looked my way. 

"So I have an announcement for the team which I think many of you will love"  He says looking over to me. Charles moves his hand back to his lap when the attention is brought to me. 

"I would like to introduce you to our new head engineer" Mattia announces to everyone and points his hand to me. I smile at the gesture and say thank you to everyone who was congratulating me. "She has been doing incredible things here in Ferrari and is truly the best person for this position." Mattia adds.  

I smile at everyone and they all congratulate. After all of that had calmed down we ended the meeting and exited the room. 

"Aria I have one more thing for you" Mattia says catching my attention. "Follow me please" He says walking down the hall. 

Charles decided to follow us to where we were going. We end up coming to where all the private offices are. We walk down the hall and I see an office with my name printed on the door. "This is another perk that comes with this position, every race you will have your own office" He says opening the door for me.
