A/N: This takes place post-Regulus' death!

~~~
No one hated the sunrise like James Potter did.
As soon as the sun rose, the night went away. The stars went away. His star went away. James could stay up all night, from dusk to dawn, sitting by himself, alone with Regulus' star. He could talk to that star for hours, look at it shining all night, and never get bored. He could share all of his secrets and all of his stories, and trust that the star wouldn't tell.
But then, the sun rose. Morning arrived. Dreams faded and reality set in.
James had long given up on wishing on shooting stars for Regulus' return. It wasn't going to happen. It was impossible. Regulus was one of the stars now, glimmering brightly in the sky, telling his story to the world. Just as beautiful and bright now as he always was in life.
At least, during the night, James could see the star. He could have some form of contact with the boy he once loved, instead of just wishes and what-ifs. The truth was, everything reminded James of Regulus – the golden snitch in quidditch, the smell of books in the library, the feeling of a broom in his hand, the smell of the freshly fallen rain, stargazing at the Astronomy Tower. But Regulus only existed in the memories of these things.
The only Regulus that James had now was the star. His favorite star, now and forevermore. And that star would always be there, for as long as James lived, watching over him, shimmering bright like a diamond.
That is, until the sun rose, and the star disappeared, just as the real Regulus had. The only difference was that the star would always return. The real Regulus wouldn't.
Oh, how James hated the sunrise.
A/N: Okay, this was depressing. Sorry.
And also, sorry I haven't been posting for the past two weeks. I was somewhere where I did not have access to my computer, and therefore couldn't post. I'll try to post more to make up for it :/
