"Emma!!" My mother exclaimed the second I stepped foot inside the McLaren garage

"Emma!!" My mother exclaimed the second I stepped foot inside the McLaren garage. Wearing a papaya shirt, she pushed off her headphones, immediately engulfing me inside her arms.

"Oh how I've missed you dear.." She whispered into my ear, holding a tight grip around me, as we stood in the middle of the garage.

"Is everything going well with..." I paused looking around the garage where mechanics rushed around. "all of this?" I asked with a chuckle.

My mother immediately beamed. Which of course meant I beamed as well. When my mother was happy, I was happy.

"It's amazing. It's definitely an experience, and it was a bit overwhelming at the start, but god Emma.. I love it." My mother told me, speaking about her new job here at Mclaren.

I smiled even wider at her. It still felt so surreal that she was working here. Race engineer. And for Lando Norris as well... I was prouder than ever.

My mother pulled away from the hug, something behind me grabbing her attention. "Lando! Come meet my daughter!" She yelled with excitement.

Oh god.

In that moment all I wanted was to curl into a ball and just disappear. Instead, I put on a smile, and acted as cool as you possibly can, when your mother is about to force you into an extremely awkward situation.

Cap put on backwards, a few brown curls sticking out, Lando struck a smile at me. "Hey, I'm Lando" He introduced himself, opening his arm for a side hug.

I could practically feel my cheeks burn within seconds.

"I'm Emma" I replied, leaning into the hug as if my whole body wasn't going into full panic mode.
God, of course he had to smell amazing as well.

"Wow, wouldn't think Susan had a daughter" Lando said referring to my mother, his eyes fixated on me as he spoke.

I couldn't help but stare back. There was no denying it, he was attractive. Cute smile, cute laugh, cute everything...

"Yeah she had me pretty young so people always think we're just sisters" I replied with a smile, watching my mothers attention slowly slip away from the corner of my eye.

"I gotta talk to this guy quickly, I'll be back in a bit!" She suddenly said, giving me a quick peck on the cheek, before disappearing within mere seconds.

Okay, now I truly wanted to disappear... Introducing me to a f1 driver was bad enough, but leaving me alone with one?...

"She does that quite often. Very busy lady" Lando interrupted my thoughts with a playful tone, smiling gently at me.

I couldn't help but grin. He weirdly made me feel comfortable, as if we'd known each other for years.

"Oh just be grateful she hasn't gotten mad at you yet" I playfully responded, watching Lando as he leaned back against a nearby table.

Lando let out a laugh, before he jokingly made a nervous smile at me. "She already has..." He said, shaking his head as he laughed.

"Oh god, what did you do?" I curiously asked, unable to wipe a smile off my lips. I was genuinely curious to know what he could've done to make my mother mad.

She got mad at me often, but that's normal. We're family. Lando however? He was under her management, they were co-workers.

Lando considered something for a moment, before he answered my question. "I was late to an important meeting... I've never been humbled so quickly before" Lando responded with his little laugh, keeping eye contact with me the whole time.

I smiled, losing myself in those blue-green eyes for a moment... God Emma, get your shit together. Don't be a weirdo, for once please.

"Excited for the summer break?" I asked him, changing the subject. It was the Belgium Grand Prix, the last one before everyone finally got a break.

I'd already had my school break, but my mother had flown me to Spa to celebrate that she was finally getting a bit of time off.

"Kinda" Lando shrugged, his grin fading into a small smile. I furrowed my brows slightly at him, but didn't ask any further. After all we'd just met each other.

"I actually haven't even made any plans yet" Lando admitted lightly, forcing himself to smile at me, so it looked like it was no big deal.

"Oh come Lando!" I couldn't help but exclaim. "You're an f1 driver, you're crazy rich. If I was you I'd go on some wild luxurious vacation" I responded, feeling Landos eyes on me, as he smiled.

"It's no fun to go on a wild luxurious vacation when you're alone" Lando responded, his smile slowly fading as he suddenly realized what he'd admitted to.

"So I'm supposed to believe Lando Norris doesn't have dozens of friends, who'd all love to spend time with him?" I said, causing Lando to drop his face into his hands with a laugh.

"You're right I just..." Lando said into his hands with a nervous laugh. "I don't know honestly" He admitted, looking up at me.

I don't even know why I was pushing him like this. It truly was none of my business. I guess it was some kind of jealousy. I had no money, no partner, very few friends...

I'd never be able to go on a vacation like that.

"It's okay, just know that if you don't plan anything, I'll get my mother to do it for you" I said jokingly, smiling at him.

"Can't you just plan it all for me?" Lando responded with a joking tone, but there was some seriousness to his expression. My smile grew.

"Oh how fun, planning a vacation I'll never go on" I sarcastically answered, causing Landos smile to grow even bigger as well.

"I never said you couldn't go with me" Lando replied. My heart stopped beating for a moment. And then I let out a cackle.

"Sure.." I responded, rolling my eyes as I smiled. Like that would ever happen. "I'll try and find my mother, but I'll see you around?" I said, nervously trailing with my words.

"Yeah of course, I'll see you Emma" Lando said.

I smiled. He smiled back. I turned around. I could still see his smile for me. Oh no. Butterflies flew crazily around my stomach.
