The reason Nina was able to behave almost exactly like Jeff wasn't because she was an overly obsessed fangirl (though that did play a part in it) but because she had a small form of psychosis.
She had trouble differentiating reality from her own dreams, and somehow got it into her head that she was Jeff's number 1 follower and had to be just like him in her head. Over time, this dillusion slowly became more and more realistic to her, till she snapped.
