A/N: An immediate update, just as I promised! Another chapter coming tomorrow! ☺️

Dunia takes careful steps towards him, making sure not to trigger him. When she's sure that he won't do anything, she closes the space between them.

While still standing in front of him, Dunia takes his hands off of his face and lays them down on his lap. She cups his face in between her hands, caresses his cheeks with her thumb. To her surprise, her bold move doesn't make Barqat flinch at all. He doesn't even bother looking up at her, he just stares at his lap with almost a blank expression.

"Barqat, look at me." She tilts his head up a little. His eyes wander around before finally resting on her. "You're going to be okay, trust me. You're going to be fine."

His breathing is heavy, he's holding a hell lot on his shoulders, "What if I'm not going to be okay? What if I can't take any of this anymore? What if I end up dead in a fucking ditch tomorrow because I can't han—"

Dunia, quickly but softly, places a hand over his mouth, "Ya Allah! I don't want to hear it, Barqat. Life is a precious gift given to you by Allah. You're a foul if you're going to destroy it because some girl didn't live up to your expectations. You fight back, you fight back every demon that's luring you into his ways. Insh'Allah, you will find the light in the dark."

He just stares at her. I've hurt her, over and over again, I've confused the living hell out of her, and she's still here telling me I'll make it, I'll make it out of whatever I'm going through.

"As Albus Dumbledore once said: 'Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.' Find your light, Barqat. Turn it on and make it brighten your world." She gives him an encouraging nod.

I might've found my light already, Dunia. But I don't want to ruin her along with an already damaged me, Barqat's hand trails down her left cheek until it cups the side of her face. "Why are you being so goddamn nice to me?"

Dunia flashes him the most heart melting smile. "Because you can't get anywhere from being an a-hole." He's amused at the fact that she's never said a curse word, always covers the word up with something more censored.

Dunia holds his hand, her own move sends butterflies through her. Barqat can feel electricity pulsing through his body, he wants to pull her into him and hold her. So he does exactly that.

He pulls her onto his lap, Dunia slightly squeals abruptly from the force of the pull. He slowly pushes off her scarf off of her head, making it land on the floor. She doesn't object. He pulls her right leg over his lap, her legs now dangling on each side of of him so they're facing each other. His hand drifts to her hips and he pulls her even closer to his chest.

He hears Dunia inhale sharply when he dips his head into the crane of her soft neck, "Barqat..." Her soft voice calls him out, not in disagreement but not in agreement.

"Shhh... My love..." his voice is a husky whisper.

Gosh darn it, that's so attractive, Dunia thinks to herself as her mind is in shambles.

She's against his perfectly chiseled chest, he's so perfect that pushing him away isn't an option and the increasing temptations stirring within her is proving to be very difficult to avoid. She puts a hard hand on his chest, intending to push him away before any real damage, but it seems like she just leaves her hand there, softly touching his chest.

Both of their breathing quickens in pace. He begins kissing the nape of her neck delicately, his rough lips grazing her smooth skin.

She thinks about pushing him away again, she isn't sure if she should let this continue. He's completely sober but he's drunk on loneliness and revenge. What if I'm a revenge plot? What if I'm just a plaything?

She tries to lean away from him, but there's no way her mind or body seems to be agreeing with her because her body turns almost limp from pleasure and begins trembling uncontrollably and her mind wanders around his body.

Barqat tilts her head towards him, his lips hovering just inches away from hers. Without a single control over her actions thus far, her lips automatically part to let him in. Her heart begins beating out of her chest, it will surely rip out of her rib cage if it keeps beating at this rate. When their lips meet, the kiss is gentle, slowly building passion. But as seconds go by, Barqat's breathing quickens even more as he deepens the kiss.

When she kisses back, Barqat's whole world drifts away. She's inexperienced, he can tell, and that brings him some sick comfort that he's her first kiss. The kiss is slow paced and soft at first, he's letting Dunia settle in and become comfortable with the act. Her plush lips against his rough ones shoots pleasure through his body. When he deepens the kiss, a small moan escapes her lips. The sound of her moan is so pure and innocent it instantly turns him on to the point where it's turning his body insane for more.

His hands explore her neck before resting under her ears. His thumb is caressing her cheeks, trying to stabilize their breathing as they pull away. Dunia softly rubs her fingers down the side of his arm, which makes Barqat shiver. He pulls her close to him and the space between them gone. They are so close that Dunia can feel his heart beat again her own.

She knew he didn't love her or maybe doesn't even like her back but she couldn't help herself, she couldn't resist his touch, his sparkling devilish eyes, his angelic smile. She leans in so their foreheads are touching, Ya Allah, I'm trying to fight it, I'm trying to fight the feelings and the thoughts that are going through my head. But he's so close, the intimacy that they just shared, all the factors are making this so hard.

"She broke my heart." Barqat says all of sudden, shocking Dunia. Their foreheads still touching.

"Who broke your heart?" Dunia wants him to confirm.

"Furat. She broke me." Barqat's voice cracks. Dunia's heart immediately stings from the weakness in his voice. He's still hurting so much, to this day...

Dunia caresses his cheek, "I'm so sorry, Barqat. I'm so very sorry you had to go through such a heartbreak."

Barqat pulls her into his embrace and nuzzles his head on her shoulder. His arms tighten around her waist, not wanting to let go. Dunia wraps her arms around him to give him extra comfort, "It's going to be okay. You're going to be okay. I'm here for you."

"Can we stay like this for a bit?" Barqat whispers. He sounds almost like a lost child for a second there.

"Yes, of course." Dunia whispers back as she lays her head on his shoulder.

For the first time in years, Barqat feels safe. He feels safe in someone's arms, he feels safe around someone, he feels safe around himself. For the first time in years, he feels the warmth of emotions that he hasn't felt since Furat.

She's caring for him when he's already lost everything in his whole world. How is she hanging onto me, to someone who's so fucked up? How can she keep giving so much affection and care into my abyss of darkness?

Her eyes, oh, her dark brown doe-like eyes. One look at those beautiful shining orbs, and I he feels safe and warm. He's falling apart yet he's falling back together. Dunia will either be his new beginning or his old past. Only time will tell whether I will be mended by love or crushed by it.
