“Maybe I should get you makeup for your birthday.” Lori tease as I apply a thin amount of eyeliner.

“Or I could keep using yours.” I say blinking looking in the mirror.

Lori nods, “Your getting good at that.”

“This isn’t going to be a every weekend deal.” I tell her handing back the charcoal stick.

She’s looks at the dress “Its nice you picked a good one.”

I roll my eyes. “You sound like my Mom.”

“Sorry you just have a very laid back style.” She says handing over the outfit.

Laughing I pull the dress off the metal hanger. “Meaning I have no style.”

Lori stays on the bed and I wait. She narrows her eyes. “Come on I’ve seen it before.”

“A little privacy in my own room isn’t asking much.”

She rolls off the bed then stands leaving the room. I use to be okay with Lori seeing my naked, Mom and Dad too. But ever since October I’ve kept my body hidden. Even I don’t like looking at myself.

Pulling on the tights they form a pattern on my legs. There aren’t pale like Lori my Dad’s great-grandfather was an inuit from Alaska. I have very little of that blood in me but enough to make tan even if I’ve never seen a real sun. When I do I’ll probably burn like everyone else.

The dress fits me well enough I look good very like me but more focus on my eyes. Slipping into my boots they are clean and shined. Walking out to the main room Mom is there she smiles at me warmly. “You look amazing sweetie.”

“Yeah,” Lori agrees. “I do good work.”

“Your different.” Kye said as he steps off the train. He’s dress in plain clothes to. A pair of khaki pants and green polo shirt, peeking from his winter coat. His shoulder length hair half covered by a green cap. The hair frames his face making his eyes pop. I love his eye’s the light brown color always dance with the light.

“I am.” His eyes go over my dress.

“You look cute.”

I feel my face heat up, Lori said I would be blushing enough that she didn’t need to add any more. “You look handsome to.”

He offers me his arm like this is some period film. “Why thank you good sir.”

We walk along the road, the Arcade isn’t so far. “So, how's work?”

“Good you know this old boat always something to fix. And, your crops?”

“Good adjusting them to the Gillispie climate is having interesting effects. There’s more oxygen in the atmosphere then here.”

“Here it's more regulated.” I should know I’ve fixed a few regulators. They're all over the city sector taking measurements and sending it to the climate control who increase or decrease the amount of oxygen or carbon.

He nods. “Not just that but with no people the carbon levels are lower than what they are here.”

“So?”
