She emerged in a shimmering rose gold luminescence.

"Hi guys!" she said brightly as she greeted her friends

"Hi guys!" she said brightly as she greeted her friends. Yesterday, one of her guard pals had passed on a note that was delivered to the palace for her. Her friends had invited her out for dinner today at the pavilion.

The six male immortals happily stood up to bow and respectfully greeted her. They were excited to see that she had accepted their invitation. There had been some discussion amongst them that Dong Hua Dijun might not want them disturbing her while he was mentoring her. They were prepared to disperse and disappear if they saw a hint of white hair anywhere near the pavilion.  They couldn't help but notice how brilliant and sweet she looked in red. Jiang Yu, the grandson of the King of Medicines noticed right away that she was limping slightly.

"Princess Feng Jiu, all you alright?" he asked as he studied her feet. He immediately walked over to her and offered out his arm for her to lean on if she needed.

She patted his arm and sheepishly smiled. "Oh, I'm fine, just a small injury from my work with Dijun." She then hitched her skirt up slightly to show them her bandage.

At this point, most of the male immortals just about dropped their jaws to the ground. A few of them grabbed onto the stone table to steady themselves. A few of them mistakenly grabbed each other. They had never seen a female immortal's ankle before, especially, without socks. The Nine Heavens was particularly prudish and if a female immortal or fairy showed her ankle, it was either classified as scandalous or a marriage proposal was due.

There was complete silence as everyone gawked at her ankles, all two of them. Even though the other one was bandaged, the purple fabric stood out beautifully against her milky white skin and the flash of red from the skirt of her robe. She looked around uncertainly as she felt she had done something wrong.

"Is something wrong? Did I do something wrong?" she asked nervously.

Cang Yi, noticing that the princess hadn't a clue what she had just done, tried to smooth it over. He didn't want her to feel any shame or self-consciousness. He remembered that Qing Qiu was free from the puritanical prudishness of the Nine Heavens and was far more liberal and progressive. He knew that aside from the cultural differences, she was a free-spirit and hadn't meant anything inappropriate by displaying her beautiful ankles.

"No, Your Highness, you've done nothing wrong. They're just worried and showing concern at your injury, that's all. Right guys?" he asked while flaring his eyes at them to pull it together.

A round of nodding and stammering affirmatives were muttered out of the immortals' salivating mouths.

Cang Yi walked over and lightly placed his hand under her elbow and led her over to the table to sit.
