I stepped out of the elevator. I had half a mind to slink back into the lift when my senses caught the unfamiliarity of Bachelor's territory. It was the polar opposite to Sassy's floor. Sure, it was cosmetics on steroids but Bachelor, if I'm to be unabashedly honest, is the ultimate man cave. Not that it's my first time. The atmosphere just overwhelms me every time. And the fact that sports and all things man can barely be contained in one floor.
Setting foot on Bachelor felt like stepping into a field where I could get tackled by sports fanatic anytime. And speaking of, I almost jump back when I nearly ran headfirst into Bachelor's sports editor, Mark Sinclair. (Comment here if you know who this guy is 😏)
He gave me a smile. "Sorry, Kylie." He side-stepped, clearing my way.
"It's okay." I smiled back.
"Boss has been waiting." He winks before disappearing to the elevator.
I blink, my cheeks flushed. I felt curious gazes from behind computer desks, but I surged on. I headed to his office, stopping by his assistant's desk. We've known each other through emails. The only time we get a face to face communication is when Bachelor and Sassy are required to be in the same place at the same time.
"Kylie." He beams, gesturing me to the half-opened door of Christian's office. "We've been eagerly expecting you."
"I can go in?" I ask hesitantly.
"Yep. The boss will be pleased." He wags his brows at me.
I tamp down the blush that threatened to color my cheek. "Okay, then."
I took reluctant steps toward the door, my mind going over the reasons why I was there in the first place. Christian told me I wouldn't survive a minute in his floor. No, he bet. Smugly, I might add. So, I got annoyed and told him I'd be coming to his office myself when I'm ready for the "lunch" I surprisingly didn't decline.
I absently push the door further open, my feet rooting frozen to the floor when I realized he wasn't alone.
Christian sits back coolly on his swivel chair, a pen in his hand he was clicking as he nods to the four other men occupying the four seats behind his mahogany desk.
The startled gasp must have given me away because Christian's blue eyes lifted from the documents on his table and steadied on me.
They actually turned even bluer.
My heart skipped a beat.
Four more heads turn to my direction. There were grins on their faces. It took me a minute to realize they were Bachelor's pride. If Sassy has Alexis Wayne, Julie Montgomery, Aimee Anderson and Violet Dawson, Bachelor has Hunter Morris, Silas Forde, Jacob West and Mitchell Caine.
