December 6th.

"So you talked to your brother and?!" Caleb waits for me to continue.

"And he refuses to talk to me right now." I sigh.

My failed attempt at convincing my brother to give Shane a chance has only ended up with me getting shunned.

"I think he'll come around. He just has to see the way you two interact."

I hand Caleb his water as he fails to reach it.

"I see how you two talk about each other. Half the time you visit me you talk about each other in the first place."

"Sorry." I mumble.

He shakes his head and sets down his water. "No, by all means it distracts me."

"Speaking of, what's the agenda for today?" I ask.

"Brain scan and a chest/stomach biopsy."

I nod slightly, my stomach sinking.

"And what about the dance tonight?" Caleb changes the subject.

"Jacob is picking me up at eight."

"Jacob huh? He's a nice guy of what I can remember of him."

I nod. "He is a really sweet guy." I tell Caleb. Though I'm more trying to convince myself.

"But he's not Shane." Caleb completes my thought.

"I promised my brother." I sigh.

"I promise Shane a lot of things I don't keep. He just needs to stop bitching and get over it."

I laugh.

"I'm sure my brother's a bigger cry baby than Shane could ever be." I roll my eyes.

"You must not be around him enough then." Caleb argues.

I shrug; touche.

"Don't you have a life?" Shane comments as he opens the door.

"Don't you knock?" Caleb retorts.

"Seriously, don't you have a dance to be getting ready for?" Shane looks me over.

"Do you want her to date you?" Caleb says harshly, clearly irritated.
