Here's an example I created. Feel free to use this however you want. No credit needed.

Step One - Give them a personality.

Surface Level Personality: likes being alone/values his alone time/spends a lot of time by himself, likes philosophy, very intelligent, not fond of meeting new people, blunt, relatively quiet

Content State: scatterbrained/loses interest easily, cynical, sarcastic/witty/insulting, observant/watches people often

Upset State: emotional outburst where he decides he's not going to do anything at all about the issue, then turns reclusive and shuts everyone out

How He's Perceived: seen as the smart kid who's going to be rich, heading straight to success, a bit mean but it's warranted for how smart he is, people respect him

How He Feels About His Perception: not satisfied with how he's viewed, feels there's more to him that's overlooked, doesn't care enough to do anything about it

Step Two - Discern the trigger of obsession and desire.

Trigger Of Obsession: he encounters his love interest who has a mass of untapped talent and is overlooked by their peers

Trigger Clarification: he sees they have so much potential, he decides he wants to help them hone and display it for others to see

His Perspective Of Trigger: he looks down on everyone else but to him the love interest has actual talent and worth, he thinks they're worthy of being at the level of recognition he's used to, he wants to take control and bring their talent to light

Step Three - Form the dynamic between your yandere and their love interest.

How He Feels About His Love Interest: he feels that they're too humble to the point of ignorance of their own worth, he thinks anything negative that happens to them is because of their self-doubt, he thinks they're something special that deserves to be admired and worshipped by others

How He Acts In Public: looks down on everyone as if they don't meet his standards, very stoic and serious, already has the status to silently intimidate most people, is always very close to his love interest but doesn't engage in any sort of PDA

How He Acts In Private: has a very strong desire that he expresses, very controlling and intense until he's gotten his daily dose of affection/intercourse from his love interest, he tends to guilt trip and coerces his love interest to give him what he wants if they're not compliant

How He Acts When In Control: he's aloof and at ease when he's able to keep his love interest from being around anyone else, very jealous and vindictive but there's an overall coldness to his tone and behavior, very composed as usual, high sex drive

How He Acts When Out Of Control: rundown and overwhelmed with anxiety, does his emotional outburst and goes into seclusion, his love interest may or may not be pulled to chase after him

Step Four - Establish your yandere's limits...and their actual limits.

Hinged Limits With Love Interest: when he's severely threatened by losing his love interest he stops everything and turns to apathy, forces himself towards disinterest, completely ignores and avoids his love interest

Hinged Limits With Others: he stops caring about everyone else and no longer reacts out of jealousy, utter and complete apathy

Unhinged Limits With Love Interest: he'll get a sudden spike of insecurity and realizes he'll lose his love interest for good if he doesn't come up with a concrete solution, he decides to kidnap his love interest and keep them forever, seclusion always solved his problems so he believes if he separates his love interest from everyone and everything they know that it'll all turn out fine

Unhinged Limits With Others: the thought of all the people interacting with his love interest began giving him nervous breakdowns and he lets the irrationality consume him, he resorts to being defensive instead of offensive and cuts everyone out of his life

Step Five - Declare the end of your yandere.

End: He'll stop at nothing. He wants to be the only one with his love interest whether they're happy or distressed. They're the only one who is worthy of his love and he can't ever lose the feeling of 'loving someone so purely'. If the love interest never accepts him and it begins to take a toll on him (which would take years), he's willing to kill his love interest, have one last _____ with their corpse, then kill himself.
