Winter POV

"I'm saying we need a new plan, because next time, one of us is going to be too hurt to heal."

I climb into the train car behind Derek, Scott following.

The latter sighs. "I get it. We can't save Jackson."

"Can't seem to kill him either." Derek grumbles. "I've seen a lot of things, Scott. I've never seen anything like this. And every new moon's just going to make him stronger."

"Then how do we stop him?"

Derek shrugs. "I don't know. I don't even know if we can."

"Maybe we should just let the Argents handle it," Scott says.

I lean against the wall, watching but not intervening.

"I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault."

I finally speak up. "That's not true. You didn't turn him into this."

"Yeah, this happened because of something in his past, right?" Scott agrees.

"That's a legend in a book. It's not that simple," Derek argues.

I narrow my gaze.

"What do you mean?" Scott asks. "What are you not telling us?"

Derek looks between us. "Why do you always think I'm keeping something from you?"

"Because you always are keeping something from us," Scott points out.

"Well, maybe I do it to protect you."

"Doesn't being a part of your pack mean no more secrets?"

"Go home you two. Sleep. Heal. Make sure your friends are safe. 'Cause the full moon's coming. And with the way things are going," Derek looks at us. "I've got a feeling it's going to be a rough one."

"Gee, what makes you say that?" I ask.

They both look at me, apparently not enjoying my sarcasm.

"What?"

"Thought you'd be at Derek's yet." Stiles comments as I walk into his room, Nova on my heels.

"He can do some things on his own. Chaining up three betas should be easy for him." I answer, sitting in the chair next to his.

"Have a book." He drops one in front of me.

A yearbook. I flip through it, reading names.

"What're we looking for again?"

"Pattern. Because, obviously, the last one didn't work."

I look up as Uncle N stops in the doorway.

"Hey. Watcha doin'?"

"Homework," We answer together.

He disappears then comes back a few seconds later.

"It's spring break."

"Whoop. Busted," I whisper.

Stiles glares at me.

"What do you think you're doing?" Uncle N asks, walking over.

"We're simply satisfying our own curiosity," Stiles comments.

Uncle N steps between us and closes our books.

"We brought Harris in this morning for questioning. They brought him in."
