Iris Gains Nickname 'Golden Soloist' After Becoming the The First Female Korean Act to Win 'Female Artist of The Year' and 'Top Social Artist' at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.

On May 20, 2018, Iris made history by taking home her first American awards Female Artist of the Year and Top Social Artist at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards!
Iris was up against other strong contenders such as Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Halsey, and Demi Lovato for Top Female Artist and BTS, Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Justin Bieber for Top Social Artist, but ended up taking the stage as both awards were casted to her, making her the first female Korean act to receive such awards.
As these accomplishments have become quite the phenomenon with Iris' fans, Royals, and in the rest of the world and media, the usage of the nickname 'golden soloist' has been bestowed upon Iris by many other artists (both Western and Korean) and fans.
The meaning behind this nickname is simply due to all the accomplishments Iris has achieved throughout her career (these awards being one of the many primary examples), despite only being a soloist.
We all know that in K-Pop, soloists don't get the same amount of attention as groups, even though the artists are talented and can still be quite big in Korea—but not as much as in the States.
Iris has proved everyone wrong, though, as she's gained, and continues to gain, immense fame, attention, and love internationally.
Though this is a great achievement for the soloist, a sudden dispute between Royals and Army's, the BTS fan base, has been raging all over social media, especially Twitter.
Army's have gone on to say that Iris has only received such attention due to BTS and them 'paving the way' as their fans like to say.
Royal's have reiterated by coming to Iris' defense and saying that she's worked for her own fame and only owes said fame to herself.
