Dark

I'm afraid of the dark

the unknown depths and lengths

the monsters that lurk

you can't see anything

it's so foreboding

as I think some more

the daytime isn't so different

nothing is as it seems

foreboding and unknown

depths and monsters

lengths and fear

while sitting here

in the dark

with my pen, book, and dog,

I know I'm not afraid of the dark

but the monsters in it

who share my name and face

these monsters who lurk

are the unknown, the fear

the foreboding darkness

But the daytime isn't so different,

is it?
