IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I had stepped into Mars' house and I couldn't help but do a full sweep of the place. Like every house in the sector, it was constructed in the shape of a gigantic pyramid with three floors and an incredibly high ceiling. Everything from the flashy furniture to the tall lustrous clock had Leo motifs.

"Mars is here!" Someone announced excitedly as we stepped inside.

Four people rushed over to the front door from different areas of the house to greet us. Even though I'd known Mars for a few months now, I'd never actually been introduced to his family. I knew he had grown up in a big family but I hadn't expected to meet all four of his siblings at once.

"Where's Mom?" He asked and one of his sisters replied.

"She's fixing her hair."

"Are you sleeping over tonight?" His younger brother asked hopefully but Mars didn't answer him.

"Did she call the flower shop yet?" He walked into another room with a spacious seating area and a very wide flat screen television. With his siblings' eyes on me, I followed him but left my shoes on.

"She said she was waiting for you to get home to figure everything out."

He picked up a notepad on one of the coffee tables and sighed.

"Mars, I'm so happy you're home!" Mars' mom walked around the corner in a black cocktail dress and dramatically embraced her son in a big hug. They were the same height and their eyes shared the same brownish amber glow. I hated to admit it but I was kind of intimidated by her flawless aesthetic. She saw me standing around awkwardly and gratefully acknowledged me, "This must be Charlize,"

"She goes by Char," corrected Mars.

"It's very, very nice to finally meet you!" She gave me the same cheery bear hug she had given her son, "I'm so sorry that we had to meet under such terrible circumstances. I'm Diamonique, Mars' mom." She forced a smile and I could tell that she was someone who put on a different face when she was in public versus when she was in private.
