Chapter 13

"What do you want?" Laura hissed when she spotted Nick sitting on a table in the café.

"Good morning you too darling" Laura rolled her eyes at him

"I don't have time for your games nick. Tell me what do you want " she said through gritted teeth

"Please sit" he said gently. Laura sat with a huff. When he remained staring at her, she raised an eyebrow at him

"Well" nick cleared his throat "I wanted to apologize. I'm sorry for everything I've done. I know it's unforgivable what I did. I'm still regretting it. I don't know what came over me. Back then, you were always travelling and I started feeling lonely". He reached for her hand that was lying on the table, but she snatched it from his grip. He sighed " Mandy told me that you were cheating on me ,that you told her you were sick of me, that I wasn't satisfying you anymore, she seduced me. So to get back at you, I slept with her. It was... it was a moment of weakness" he helplessly tugged on his hair.

"I don't know why you're telling me this. It's been over two years" his eyes were begging her, and he looked like he was saying the truth

"I wanted to give you time. I was a coward too"

"Seriously what do you want nick?" she asked nonchalantly. She wasn't in the mood to hear his excuses. It was long time ago ,and she moved on .

"I want us to get back together. I love you Laura and I'm sorry for everything, please give me a second chance." Nick pleaded her

"Your blackmailing at the charity gala night really shows that you still love me" she chuckled humorlessly.

"I was angry okay" he paused for a second "when I decided to get you back, I found you in a relationship with that bastard" she tried to interrupt him but he raised his finger to silence her" Pleasedon't tell Colton that we were married. It's great for all of us. It'sbeneficial more for Colton. He will make a lot of profit thanks to my investment.Plus I want to keep a business relationship between us" He paused for a moment "pleasegive me a chance, and I will show you that I changed."

"Listen Nick, there's no second chance, I'm happy with Colton", she looked at him in the eyes "I love him" she added." So just leave me alone" she got up and as she was about to walk away she remembered something "and don't call him bastard again" she glared at him and stormed out of the restaurant.

Nick sat there staring at her back. this wasn't what he expected. she surely changed, nick thought. The task will be more difficult than what he expected. He started dialing a number on his phone.

"Any good news" the voice on the other side said

"No, the bitch doesn't want to give me another chance" he said angrily

"You know that we don't have time" the person sneered. "It just a matter of months"

"Don't you think that I know it "he paused "she changed. I don't recognize her anymore, she used to obey me, but... but not anymore." he let out a sigh

"Just hurry up okay .Do something and gain her trust .You need to get back together before it's too late, if he reached her we're both done"

"Okay, okay I will try to do my best"

"You won't try, you will do it" the person said sharply "so we can get back together quickly. ou know that I really miss you babe" the person added sweetly.

"I miss you too. I better go now" Nick hung up the phone and started thinking on how to gain Laura back.

Laura came back home thinking that Colton was gone, since he told her the morning that he has something to take care of, she bit her lip when she remembered what happened the morning, she didn't sleep until dawn and when she woke up,she found him sleeping soundlessly next to her, his arm draping around her waist, his hair all over the place and she resisted the urge to swipe it from his forehead. She attempted to get up but his arms tightened around her waist and pulled her closer to him.
