Shallow bones

I look up at the night sky dimly lit by the nearby pollution of the city,
The gentle breeze blows through my bones and the trees above bend down to look at me in pity.
Carried through the wind is a light mist that slowly soaks the dirt and grass around me.
As the ground turns to mud and more of my old bones surface, my soul begs to flee.
But my lovers golden bracelet clings to my wrist holding me fast to the earth.
The only person ever to care about my years of absence knows not of my lain near this firth.
My only wish for tonight as the stars shoot by is the same wish I make every night, to see my lover just once more.
But after years of deteriorating, I now realize finding me would be quite a chore.
My bones grow even more brittle as I sit here in the shallow soil.
The only thing holding me together anymore is the security of this lightly wrapped and torn voile.
I hope to be laid to rest before I finally break apart,
But my memories slowly begin to part.
What was I wishing for again?
