Caught Between Two Kings

Chapter 5

Firebird

It was around dusk that the maids arrived, three to be precise.

I had arrived at my new living quarters earlier today after living the palace, it was beautiful with a living room, bedroom and guestroom. The place was well furnished with silks and a large queen size bed, lily will be escorting me tomorrow for a new wardrobe.

I had just finished taking a nap and was considering taking a bath when I heard a knock at the door, I opened the door and found three women standing there, they introduced themselves as Gwen, Lola and bianca and said they were sent by the kings to get me ready for dinner at the palace.

Gwen and lola where both brunettes while bianca had sandy blonde hair, she was also the tallest among the three of them and each were lovely in there own way. Bianca who seemed like the leader among them spoke next,

"My lady the kings decided that since you were new here you wouldn't have time to get appropriate clothing and accessories under such short notice which is why they generously provided you with a beautiful dress complete with shoes, a necklace, ear rings, bracelet and makeup".

They handed me a box and when I looked inside I saw a lovely sleeveless silver dress, decorated with violet and gold design, it was a tight dress that would definitely show my curves and reached all the way to my ankle, while the front dipped all the way to my stomach and would  surely show a lot of cleavage, the shoes were high and silver in color, they were really beautiful and I couldn't wait to try them on.

The maids wasted no time running a bath for me and when I was done they sat me down and curled my hair into big bouncy curles to frame my heart shaped face, they painted my full lips a red shade, darkened my long lashes and got me into the dress and high heels before I applied my bracelet and earrings and placed a beautiful blue gemed necklace on my neck.

When I looked into the mirror I saw how Beautiful I looked and it surprised me because I have been running for my life these past few days that my looks weren't necessarily my top priority, but seeing myself now reminded of home and how my mother would always put time into making sure I looked beautiful for our kingdom's social gatherings, and how we would laugh and gossip while she was getting me ready for the........no, now is not the time to think about that hence I would start crying and that wouldn't make a good first impression. After making sure I had composed myself and wouldn't breakdown at any moment, I smiled and turned towards the maids.

"Thank you all, for making me look so beautiful"

"It was nothing my lady, we just added a little sparkle to what was already perfect" replied bianca and I couldn't help but giggle.

All three maids marveled and awed at how good I looked, while the guards sent to escort us to the palace couldn't take their eyes off me no matter how hard they tried to act professional. A carriage was sent to collect us and when we arrived at the palace I was hustled towards the dining hall  by the maids who left and shut the door behind me.

When I entered into the hall, several pairs of eyes turned to look at me and gasped when they saw me, then murmurs of how ethereal and beautiful I looked were spoke in hushed voices by the guests. Men looked at me with wonder, lust and awe like I was a goddess come to grace them with my presence even the married men couldn't help but do the same, while the women looked at me with jealousy,anger and hatred, some were making rude comments about me while pretending to murmur it, while some snarled at me but I ignored them all as I was already used to such reactions from people seeing as I grew up in a palace and learned how to handle snobbish bitches like them.

Predictable all the women had their faces caked with pounds of makeup, while I only needed lipstick and cole to apply to my face which I didn't need because my features were already perfect.

I spotted the kings at the far high side of the table they looked ruggedly handsome unlike the men here who were dressed in fancy clothes and spotted well groomed hair and clean shaven faces.

The kings were wearing breaches with a Leather coat and no shirt underneath which showcased their muscles to perfection. There were two blonde women sitting next to the kings one i recognised from earlier and the other one i have never seen before, they were  both caked in makeup and wearing clothes that barely covered their body, each trying to get the kings attention but the kings looked bored and barely showed them any interest.

The blondes were now giving me death glares before they turned and gazed at the kings lustfully. Roman and Ezra stood up while looking at me hungrily and told me in their husky voices that I looked stunning not minding their guests currently present, Roman then invited me to come sit next to them, but I ignored him and sat at the end of the table close to an elderly looking lady not wanting anything that would bring me closer to those rude hags.

Everyone seemed surprised by my actions but the kings only laughed and looked at me with delight, the two blonde women smirked pleased I won't be getting anywhere near the kings, but their smirks disappeared when they saw the kings leave their seats and approached me, Ezra then lifted me into his arms and Roman followed behind as Ezra took me back to their seats and he processed to place me on his lap while Roman commanded two elderly ladies, one of which was the elderly woman I was sitting down close to before, to take the seats of the blonde women sitting close to the kings while the blondes should sit in the seats of the elderly women at the far end of the table and with that they were dismissed.

They looked embarrassed, numb, angry and shocked as they stood up to leave, everyone looked surprised but I was shocked myself and didn't know what to make of this, I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Ezra announce,

"may the feast begin" before several dishes were being led into the hall. I just  hope I can get through this dinner without anymore surprises.
