Our girls (Marina)

Chapter 23

 "You okay bella?" Carina asked Luna, that looked like she just wasn't there. 

They just had breakfast and were now getting ready to go to school. Luna had had a rough night, she tried to sleep but everytime she was able to, she would wake up minutes later. Her dream was full of nightmares that she couldn't understand until she finally gave up trying and just waited until it was time to get up. This had been happening every night for the last week.

Luna, who was still on a world of her own, nodded but Carina knew something was up. The brunette had noticed the change in her daughter, she noticed the girl tired all the time and she spoke less and less

"Are you sure?" she insisted trying to make the eight year old talk about it  

"Just tired" the little girl said looking at her mom for the first time, making Carina realize the bags under the eyes that the girl had "Couldn't sleep" she said shruggring

"Are we ready?" Maya said walking towards her wife and daughter followed by a moodie five year old.

"What's with the pouty face?" Carina asked their youngest daughter already knowing the cause of the kid's grumpiness    

Emma had a doctor's appointment for a check up after school and she wasn't happy. Her mothers told her the night before but she was so entertained with her toys that she didn't pay much attention to them, which led to, this morning, when she heard the word doctor, the happy Emma being replaced by a not so happy one 

"I don't want to talk about it" Emma said making the adults in the room chuckle

"Okay then" Carina said handing the kid her bag "Let's go"

It was a long day for both girls for different reasons.

Luna wasn't able to concentrate in her classes, she was so tired that even Ms. Beale at recess asked if she was feeling okay or if she wanted them to call home. Emma on the other hand was nervous all day, she didn't like the idea of going to the doctor and she didn't understand why she had to go if she was fine. 

At the end of the school day both women would go to pick up the girls. Maya would take the eight-year-old to the station since her shift didn't end so late, and she could try to convince the girl to get some rest while Carina would take the youngest to the doctor.

So they did. You could say things for Maya went smoothly. She had been thinking about the different arguements she could say to convince the girl she needed to sleep. Luna was the sweetest but she could be really stubborn sometimes. However, she didn't have to do much convincing, the girl fell asleep as soon as the car started going. 

Maya, thinking it was best to let her sleep decided to place her in her bunk as soon as they made it to the station. The eight year old opened her eyes briefly to say hi to the crew but she was so tired she couldn't fight it anymore 

Carina's trip wasn't that nice. Emma cried all the way to the Hospital... even when they were already inside the building the kid kept crying. Was when Emma realized there was no way out of it that she stopped crying and decided to try and be brave like her sissy.

"How was your day?" the brunette asked with a sigh, entering their house with a toddler in her arms 

"Good actually" the blonde said looking at her wife's tired face "should I ask how yours went?" the blonde asked giving the brunette a quick peck "Hi little one" Maya said to the toddler that reached her arm towards her, wanting to feel her mommy's comfort 

"It went... fine" Carina said as she took her coat off "Where's Luna?" she asked when she didn't see the girl around 

"Sleeping" the firefighter said pointing to the sofa that was on the living room
