you tell me i'm melodic and soft
that my natural state is melancholy
and my essence can be described as the piano notes that tapper off any classical piece.
you tell me my deep nature resembles that of a brook
babbling, bubbly, but subdued
babbling with innocent certainty.
that i speak in mondegreens of mondegreens,
phrases that are as shallow as the water
bubbling past.
i tell you that i don't know myself
and you tell me who i am.
