Michael's POV.

"Alhamdu lillāhi Rabbil 'Ālamīn "

The sun, an orange ball of evening was setting down as the birds departed to their homes.

I was seated leaning against a tree, my gaze capturing the perfect scene. The place was secluded and quiet, perfect for listening to the recitation of the Qur'an.

After I and John affirmed the two Testimonies, professor Hassan and his friend, Bilal, decided to teach us how to perform ablution and prayer.

"Prayer is the second obligation upon us after saying the Shahadah. It is prayer that distinguishes between a Muslim and the disbeliever, if a person does not pray, he's a disbeliever as the scholars have said. So first thing after knowing Tawheed, your next step is to learn ablution and prayer" Professor Hassan had said.

Thus, he explained us basics of ablution and the prayer by demonstrating to us. We stayed in the mosque for about one hour before going our separate ways. Professor Hassan told us about this lecture that will take place tomorrow evening, it would be about advices for the youth. He invited John and I as well as Habib.

Presently, I was listening to the recitation of Surah Fatihah which Aslam sent me. I needed to learn it as soon as possible so I could recite it in the prayer. Aslam said it was okay if I only recited Surah Fatihah for now and not the other chapters of the Qur'an in the prayer for this was important.

I opened Aslam's chat to look for the narration he just sent me regarding this Surah.

Aslam: Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, "Whoever does not recite Al-Fatiha in his prayer, his prayer is invalid." [Sahih al-Bukhari, 756]

Aslam: take steady steps and be consistent in acting upon what you learned. Knowledge is sought from cradle to grave so you will learn everything at its appointed time. The most important thing for you at this moment is knowing about Allah and of course, prayer.

Michael: thanks, Aslam. This was much needed. Also, could you send me some daily Arabic terms that are often used by Muslims?

Aslam: yes, right away.

Aslam sent his own recording of Surah Fatihah and I was listening to it on repeat. The Arabic letters were quite difficult - okay alot difficult - to pronounce but I was sure it would get better if I kept practicing and learning.

He also sent me a list of Arabic phrases with translation and transliteration just as he had promised.

I stood up to leave as it was going to be time for Maghrib. Aslam told me to come to the mosque that was near to where they were staying so we could pray together and Daniel personally invited me since he wasn't there when we accepted Islam.

Accepted Islam...the feeling was truly surreal. How Allah changed heart of a disbeliever into heart of a submitter in just one evening.

As I reached my bike, parked under the shade of a tree, my phone rang.
