Intro:

Rogue was written by footnoteofhappiness and won second place in the Fairy Night Awards, best cover category. The cover is for a Sirius Black fanfiction, and this review is for the cover, not the book.

Long Feedback:

Rogue has a very colorful cover. That was what stuck out most to me when I first looked at it. There are cool colors and then there's the contrast of the warm orange light the character holds along with the other orbs floating behind him. I love the choice to make the "A past he can't escape" and "E. C. Xalfa" in orange to match with the orbs. At the same time, they're small enough that they're not distracting, but also large enough for the reader to read easily. It's a great balance where it doesn't feel distracting but it also adds some more flair to the cover.

In general, the font was well-chosen and all the text placement is great. It invites the reader to look closer and admire the hard work you put into the text in particular. I really love how "Rogue" looks in that font. It screams fantasy and feels very Harry Potter-like.

Other than it being a bit blurry, I really like the cover and think it works well for the narrative. The blurriness was my one and only criticism for it in the FN Awards, and I haven't thought of any more since then. The cover is overall really good and well-deserving of its #2 spot in the FN Awards.

Overall:

Rogue has an intriguing cover that sparks curiosity within the reader. With the colorful presentation and interesting character in the foreground, it inspires the reader to ask questions and click on the book. For that reason, I believe this is a great cover that will pull any reader into the story.
