Presently…

"You want to be my date? Why? What changed your mind?" Nathan asked.

"Nothing. I just had a change of heart". Eva responded, pouting her lips as she did.

"I'm glad you accepted though". Nathan said smiling.

His excitement bubbled within him as Eva agreed to accompany him to the charity gala. He couldn't believe his luck, and he was determined to make the evening unforgettable for both of them.

Eva went upstairs into her room afterwards.

Nathan had already arranged for a stunning dress from one of the city's top designers. The gown was a masterpiece, tailored to perfection to highlight Eva's elegance and charm. Nathan couldn't wait to see her in it. He had made the preparations earlier, but after Eva rejected his invitation to the gala, he abandoned the dress.

°~Later that evening…~°

Nathan arrived at Eva's room to escort her to the event. When he saw her in the dress, he was speechless. Eva looked breathtakingly beautiful in the silver dress. It hugged her curves perfectly, enhancing her beauty even more. Nathan couldn't help but feel a surge of pride within himself.

"You look beautiful". He said, and that made Eva smile profusely.

As Nathan escorted Eva to the gala, he couldn't take his eyes off her. She exuded grace and elegance in the stunning gown, and Nathan felt a swell of admiration for her.

Arriving at the venue, Nathan and Eva stepped onto the red carpet, drawing the attention of the crowd. Nathan felt a sense of pride walking beside Eva, knowing she was the epitome of sophistication and beauty.

She was surprisingly calm. Eva didn't exchange words with Nathan. She was really excited about being in a place like that.

The ballroom for the charity gala was extremely huge. Guests wore masks to cover their faces, and they were all dressed elegantly.

Eva felt privileged to be amongst them. She had never attended an event before, now, she's attending a charity gala!

"Come with me". Nathan said, and Eva agreed, placing her hands on his.

They both walked hand-in-hand, and Nathan made sure to introduce Eva to his acquaintances, each one impressed by her charm and charisma.

Nathan donated a huge amount of money to charity, and Eva couldn't help but admire him.

They danced together, and Eva couldn't help but smile.

Their dance together was interrupted when a man approached them both. He looked in his early sixties, but his face was covered with a mask. His gray hair gave it away.

The man whispered something in Nathan's ear, and Nathan nodded to his words.

After the man left, Nathan stopped dancing with Eva.

"Hey, I'm sorry. But, I have something urgent to attend to right now". He said to Eva.

"That's okay". Eva said, and a smile formed on her lips.

"Would you be fine on your own? I'm not going to take much time, I promise. I know it's rude to leave your date hanging, and it's really not my intention to do that, but something just came up". Nathan said gently.

"It's okay, Nathan. I'd be fine on my own. I think I'm just going to have something to drink. I need one anyways". Eva said.

"Okay then. I guess I'll see you later. If something goes wrong, call me immediately".

"But, I don't even have your number".

"You do. Check your phone". Nathan said, and Eva obeyed. She checked her phone, and surprisingly, Nathan's number was in it.

"But… how? Wh…"

"I have to go now, Eva". Nathan said, and planted a soft kiss on Eva's forehead before leaving.

'Why did he do that!?' Eva thought. She felt the butterflies in her stomach dance excitedly.

She stood in that position awkwardly for a while, and watched as Nathan left with the man, till they were no longer in sight.

"I should go get myself a drink". Eva said to herself.

As she turned backwards to go get a drink for herself, she bumped into someone, and the red wine in the person's glass spilled on her dress.

"Are you blind!? Can't you see where you're going!?" Eva yelled angrily. "You just ruined my dress!"

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. It was a mistake". The person said apologetically.

It was a man, and his voice sounded familiar to Eva.

She tried so hard to determine where she had heard the voice from, but she discarded the thought when finding out who the person was seemed impossible.

"A mistake!? This is a gift, and you just ruined it!"

"I said I'm sorry! What more do you want me to do!?"

At this point, guests started gathering around them as they created a scene.

"You ruined my dress, and you're asking me that!? Find a f*cking solution!" Eva yelled angrily.

"What's going on here?" A lady asked. She was dressed in a long purple suede dress, and she had a black mask on. Her voice sounded familiar too, but Eva wasn't sure about where she had heard it before.

"I spilled my glass of wine on this lady, but she's making it a big deal. I already apologized to her countless times, but she won't listen". The man said.

"Stop making a big deal out of it. It's not looking so bad". The lady said.

"It's not looking so bad!? This is a freaking silver dress for goodness sake! If it were a black dress, I wouldn't mind".

"Well, you should have worn a black dress instead then. Just go clean yourself up, and stop making a scene. You're only embarrassing yourself ". The lady said, and attempted to leave, but Eva dragged her back angrily, making the lady's dress rip a little.

"You b*tch! Look what you did!" The lady yelled, planting a slap across Eva's face. Her mask was removed, and Eva winced in pain.

When Eva raised her head up, she really wished she didn't.

"Oh!" The lady scoffed. "Look what we have here. Eva, It's you!"

"Stephanie!? What are you doing here?"
