It all started when I was on a trip to engineering college. There was a cultural festival for one week, I went there with my friends and a teacher to represent our culture.

We were made to stay at the girls' hostel, it was quite big and spacious.

The one week passed with lots of activities and conferences.

At the end of the week, the fest was over.

We were leaving with our bags all packed, and as I walked in the corridor something caught my eye below the staircase that led to the terrace.

I saw a girl with her neck abnormally bent and she was staring at me.

She had this black long hair that fell on the side at which her head was tilted. Her lips curved into a smile.

I stared at her but when I blinked, she was gone.

Then, I noticed I was the only one in the corridor my friends were way behind me still packing their bags.

I checked the space below the staircase only to find few brooms and dustbins.

I fled from there, the face of the girl still in my mind, her smile was unforgettable.

I was studying late at night as next day was my history test.

As I lived with my cousin, they were all sound asleep and I was awake preparing for my test.

The lights were all switched off in the corridor and other rooms and the only lighted room was my study room, the door of my room was left open.

My aunt was watching a television at the living room but with lights switched off.

Then, at the corner of the room a shadow caught my eye.

I could not see it properly, all I could see was a dark figure. It was small with short hair and was wearing a skirt.

Thinking it was my small cousin, I told at her to go and sleep but she didn't move an inch which irritated me.

I moved towards the shadow but it ran away and got disappeared in the darkness of the corridor.

I followed her to check if she was really sleeping or not.

I went to living room to see my aunt still watching the t.v.

I asked her about the small cousin but her response surprised me.

She said she had seen no one leave the bedroom nor going inside, she and I were the only one awake.

Then, from that day I woke up early to study instead of staying late nights.
