- sal is never one to fall for anyone quickly, he might have to be friends with the person for a few months (even years) before considering them as a romantic partner

- he keeps on rewinding the image of the smile you gave him when you finally saw him without his prosthetic

- it was an accident. you had accidentally hit him in the face with your elbow so hard that the smaller piece and the bigger piece of his prosthetic fell apart

- he had tried to have you to look away before you saw but he was too late, you saw his face already

- you stare for a moment before looking away cause he looked so scared, as if you were going to scream or something

- "sorry! i didn't mean to look!"

- you felt bad for looking cause sal really seemed to be uncomfortable with the thought of anyone seeing him without his prosthetic

- "it's okay!"

- he hurries to fix his prosthetic and puts it on

- you avert your eyes away from the floor to his face once more and you apologize once more

- he tells you it's fine and it wasn't a big deal

- "of course it's a big deal! i don't want you to feel uncomfortable if you're not ready to show me your face. i get that it takes time for you to show anyone your face and i respect that,"

- and with that, you smiled sweetly

- and it just stuck to his mind a lot after that

- he liked how sweet and considerate you were for caring about his feelings and that left a warm feeling in his chest

- suddenly, like a switch, his brain clicks.
