Beep, beep, beep. (Hospital Monitor)

Hazel. Hazel. Hazel.

"Hazel... Ha...zel..."My voice was weak and desperate. "Hazel, where- are -you?" Many medical plastics were buried at the center of my arm. "Hazel?"  I tried to get up but my arm was attached by many monitors.

I hate hospitals.

"Hawk?" A strong deep voice greeted me. Jack. "You're still weak. You can't get up now." He tried to convince me to go back to bed. "Dr. Pen said that you need to rest." He explained. "I'm so happy that you're alive, man." He squeezed me with a decent hug.

Ow. Ow. Ow.

"Chill," I warned him. "It still hurts." I punched my head in the middle of the white pillow. "Where is Hazel? Is she okay?" His reaction gave it all away. something was definitely wrong. "Where is she, Jack?" I repeated myself as I tried to steal words from his mouth. "Is she dead? Answer!"

Jack swallowed his saliva, slowly as he tried to collect his words piece by piece.

"She... She... Mhm..." He sighed. "She's okay but..."

"But what?" I yelled, impatiently. "Talk! Talk Jack!" I forced him to complete his sentence. I wanted to know what was going on but he was not saying anything and it pissed me off. "You're really pissing me off right now. Why are you not talking? I want to know what happened to Hazel." I proved my point.

"Well," He decided to talk. "Hazel... Hazel doesn't remember anything. Dr. Pen said that she lost her memories." He sighed. "All of them and the worst part is..." He paused and walked back and forth beside the bed. "She's two weeks pregnant with your baby."

"Two weeks? But..." I paused, trying to collect my thoughts. "Wait? We had sex like a few days ago before the funeral."

"Hawk," Jack gave me a nasty look. "We're four weeks late. The funeral was a few weeks ago." He tried to explain everything. "She doesn't want to keep the baby. I tried to reason with her but she doesn't want to hear anything from a stranger."

Dr. Pen entered the room.

"Doctor." I greeted him as soon as he closed the door after him. "Can I please see Hazel? Is she okay?"

"I was hoping we could talk in private." Dr. Pen offered. His eyes kicked Jack out of his mind. "Just me and you." He gestured, holding a clipboard in his hands.

"He can stay," I glanced at Jack. "I don't mind," I replied with a sincere tone.

"I know it's weird and impossible but your blood is..."

"I know." I interrupted, purposely. "I really don't want to hear anything about my health right now. I want to see Hazel. I want to see her, please Doctor," I begged. "Can I?"

"She needs to rest." Dr. Pen replied. "She lost her memories. She had internal bleeding in her brain cells. The accident was terrible and I'm so happy that you and Hazel are alive."

Why are you trying to change the subject, Doctor? I'm trying to see my baby.

"Doctor, Can I please see Hazel?" I repeated. "I just want to see her. Please..." I tried to make him understand that she was the only person I wanted to talk to.

"Of course, you can." Jack helped me get up. "Follow me." He finally agreed to take me to her room. I was weak and It was hard for me to walk on my own.

****

As soon as I opened the door, her eyes judged me from a distance. I was more like a stranger to her. Angels of Hell and Demons from Heaven surrounded her presence with bright darkness. I was more like a stranger to her. It felt like yesterday when we were in the car, she was all over me and was telling me that she wanted to start a new life with me and now she doesn't want anything to do with me. I was not the guy she wanted in her life. I was the enemy.
