Alejandro Posada POV

Two months have passed since Malia was officially divorced and since the day of my "proposal", I spent as much time as I could to get to know her. My findings were if I were straight that women would have been in my bed but that wouldn't happen. She has high standards and isn't the kind of woman to embed herself just like that. I admire her for her values and my parents thought so too. I will be going to visit them tonight to ask for her engagement ring to present to Malia.

Jonathan hasn't been happy about the situation at all...just understanding. But he'll see this will be good in this. I was sitting in my Abuelita's sunroom, emphasize the word sunroom there is nothing but orange and yellow on the walls and the sun is everywhere. Help?

The doors finally open and in came Juana Posada.

"Mi Hijo you finally visit me! I must tell you, you remember Theodora?" I nodded, "Well she has a granddaughter, a lawyer! Crea de la Rosa! You should date her, get married, and give me great-grandbabies!" she said making me frown. "I thought you hated Theodora?" The woman is confusing me. "Oh I do, I hate the women, but you know what they say keep your friends close and your enemy's closer." I shook my head and stood up.

"Sorry, Abuelita not happening and besides I came to ask you for your engagement ring. I would like to present it to this special lady." I told her walking to her taking her hands into mine as they do in the telenovelas that she watches.

"Is it for that woman? The one who got caught cheating on her luscious husband? With you of all people?  Hijo No!" she said stomping her foot on the ground. "But Abuela that was all a lie! She never cheated on that bastard with me!" She frowned and hit the back of my head. "Don't use that language you sound like your father when you do," she said shaking her head and hands. "Please! She's beautiful and wonderful, bright and intelligent and a talented artist....she designed mama's birthday.. the pictures were from that day... I met with her to talk to her about the dress." my grandmother just stared at me.

"Are you telling me that the papers lie and her husband left her for a bunch of lies and now you want to marry her because you met her again and fell in love?" Abuelita said I was dying to tell her the truth but ugh women. "Yes, I fell in love with her and she and I will take things slowly but I...I ..I accidentally got her pregnant." I lied my Abuelita gasped exaggerating it and all. Suddenly she walked up to me with a sharp eye. "You didn't get her pregnant your eyes to deceive you mi Hijo." She said my eyes widen "She's pregnant but with the ex's child not your." she said I couldn't lie to her anymore. "Yes, it's his but when she went to go tell him he told her she is blocked from her career and denied it was his....so I'm taking charge I want to marry her, love her and care for her and her child and help her build her career again...Abuela I will marry her with or without your engagement ring. She is very important to me now since she has entered my life and I vow to love her child as my own." I told her honestly....my thoughts stop I said I love her....maybe I do like like like. Brother to a sister yes! That's Logical..right?

" Ok," she said breaking my thought within a thought. "I want to meet her understood," she said as she walked over to her desk and brought out a small box and inside of it, I held a beautiful diamond ring. " Go now it's almost time for my telenovela." She said pushing me out and closing the doors behind her. She called out of her maids. "Irma it's time for la Novela!" she said walking off to the kitchen.
---------------------------------------------
Later that evening I had arrived home and inside waited Malia with my mother. who were chatting away with secret wedding details. Jonathan was in the corner working on paperwork for a project we're doing for the homeless. As I entered I saw his face shine with joy and Malia with a sweet smile. I feel conflicted...

"Good evening Mama, Jonathan, and mi Malia," I said walking to her kissing both women on the forehead.
Clearing my throat, "Malia may I have a word with you." she nodded and stood up excusing herself from my mother.

I took Malia upstairs to a room where I had locked up for purposes about to be discovered. "Now close your eyes." She did as told and I unlocked the door and open the doors and brought her inside turning the lights on. I walked up to her and kneeled down. "Open," I told her as she gasped and looked around the nursery room for her baby.

"I know we have an arrangement but I don't want that to stop me from proposing properly to a lady of class not social class as yourself. This room symbolizes our friendship and desire to help one another as well as care for one another as we will for this little baby." I said so taking a deep breath and I say it. "Will you Malia Nolan take me, Alejandro Posada, to be your husband." She smiles and nods "yes" standing up I have her a hug and placed the ring on her finger.

"My Abuelita gave this to me before watching her Novelas." I told her "Which on is she watching I don't understand them but I watch them for the very attractive men." I laugh "me too sometimes." she giggles. We started talking about the baby and other future plans when I noticed Jonathan was watching from the door. When he saw that I saw him he left. I wanted to run after him but I didn't. "Go," Malia said giving me the ok to go after him. " I'll be downstairs with your mother," she said as she left I follow out and in the opposite direction when I heard my mother scream with joy. I looked all over the place in and out but I didn't find him. I returned inside and checked upstairs and found him in his room packing.

"What are you doing?" I said shocked.
"I can't stay here anymore.....I can't bear the sight of you and HER being happy and..and experiencing the happiness we were supposed to experience." I looked down with guilt, but why is he jealous she's a woman and I'm not into women..I'm into him. "I'll see you on Monday, Mr. Posada," he said walking past me. If my mother wasn't here I would have ran after him but I didn't...I felt like a coward for not going after the man I love but the traditional values of my family stopped me. I don't understand why he is being like this he knew from the beginning that is wasn't going to public but private." I closed my eyes and started to cry. Then I felt soft gentle hands on my shoulders and there she is Malia. Becoming my rock, knowing what had just happened.
