I fought
The only way
I knew
They fell
More friends
Than foes
The end
Could not be
Celebrated
When after
Only loss
Is remembered
With the larks
And somber
Clouds
We keep the
Lives lost
Along the way
Within our
Hearts worn
On our sleeves
For we all
Shed the same
Blood
No matter
Which side
We crossed from
To reach the
Field of resting,
Breathing poppies.
A poem for Remembrance Day that's long overdue.
