Journey across the seven seas
Like jewels, land sparkles
While the ocean deeply breathes
With the infinite sky stretched overhead
Free of boundaries and finite ends
Few have said
How directionless the world can be
Without chaining freedom--
For safety's sake, a needed fee.
To life, each moment and choice
A smile, a squint
A half-forgotten voice
Propels time and ourselves
Forward, the world otherwise
Stagnant and too sure
Of the future's linear path
With too many unseen strings attached
Leads to self-imposed wrath.
One day, the sun will pick you up
Give control, open your eyes
Your heart, you can now trust
Even so, you're terrified you'll fall
Without chains wrapping you
In safety, modesty and all
But remember, within your heart
A worn compass will guide
And do its part
And fly you to your long-lost dreams
No matter how far
The light may have seemed.
