"IT FEELS LIKE I'M SEEING LIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME,"

Natasha squinted as she rose above the deck, sunlight splaying across her features. Alessia had fixed up her face as best she could. The colour burned golden on her cheeks - her eyes bold and big like a fawn's.

"Someone's glowing," Nina squealed, jumping onto her with a hug.

"I try," Alessia grinned from over Natasha's shoulder. The pair still tred cautiously around one another. She dressed in a cotton blouse, the sleeves folded up to her elbows. Everyone but Kaz matched, who was hidden at the back of the schooner, brooding alone.

"Don't worry," Nina whispered, arms still wrapped around Natasha. "Loverboy missed you,"

"Saints, Nina," Natasha coughed. Her cheeks reddened, half glad her face was buried in Nina's shoulder. "I and Kaz aren't even on talking terms,"

"Even better, you can fall in love all over again-"

"I think Inej's waiting for us over there," Alessia said, poking over Natasha's shoulder again. She gently unwrapped her arms off, dragging Natasha away. "Thank me later," she mumbled into her hair

"You're walking again," her tone was anything, but cheery. Then again, Inej rarely bothered smiling or joking with the others.

"That I can see," They both jumped up on the crate beside her, swinging their legs against the side of the box. "So, my darling, Inej how has your day been going?"

Inej frowned as if she was appalled and offended. "Come on, you can talk to us," Natasha smiled.

"And why would I want that?"

"Because we are all the hottest members of the dregs," Natasha flipped her hair over her shoulder sarcastically. "Come on Inej, don't you want to have girlfriends?"

"Not really, no,"

"What if we die in there though," Natasha whined. "Who's going to mourn me?"

"That doesn't fit with the motto," Wylen added. He was walking across the deck in a silk shirt, black suspenders across his chest. Once a council boy always a council boy, Natasha thought.

"Smart observation, kid," Alessia snorted.

"I'm not a kid," Wylen quickly retorted.

"Don't fight it, Wy," Jesper said, poking his head out from the upper deck's cabin. "That girls got claws," Alessia grinned, flexing her hands out in front of Wylen's face.

"You guys are such idiots," Inej said, a sliver of a grin on her face.

"With that, I can agree," Natasha smiled, slinging her arm across Inej's shoulder. "Come on, love, you know, you want us,"
