Jia Davis

It has been two months, I started working here. Not a single day went by without me getting yelled at by my boss. Just like now, he was ranting about me not knowing how time is so important because I had given his file 5 minutes late. (Imagine me rolling my eyes). I looked at his face, every time he got furious, scars on his face turned a bit red, leaving faint red streaks across his face and his breathing used to get heavy. His nose used to flare, and his hazel eyes used to turn into melted chocolate. I dreaded he might need his pump. Why to stress yourself so much, I mean what's the point. I huffed, waiting for him to finish scolding me impatiently. My feet was tapping the floor on its own accord. Thankfully, carpet muffled the sound.

And yes, I met Bruce almighty too. I strongly doubt they have anything between them. Bruce actually worships the ground Viktor Anderson walks on. He, too, is from the army, and they were friends there. Their relationship is like of god and his devotee. Like if Viktor Anderson is Voldemort, then Bruce is Bellatrix. You know what I am saying…

"Please Leave Ms Davis." I heard Mr. Snobbish say. Huh. Finally! I took my stuff, placed them on my desk and went out for lunch.

Ohh no! I got late, my gang has already left after having lunch. I decided to treat myself with some spicy, juicy, delicious street food. Hmm! my mouth started watering already. I went outside the office building to have tasty fried sausages across the street. This joint was so cozy tucked under a tree canopy and wooden chairs and tables scattered around. I should get my friends here, Mike will love the food. I didn't have time to meet my friends too. We just had one outing last month. We had been to a trek, and it was outstanding. Me, Snappy (that is Stephen, I call him snappy because he snaps a lot), Aarti, Mike and Jovita, Stacey and Jake. We had so much fun.

While waiting for my lunch, I looked at the tall building in front of me, screaming wealth and power. Whatever may be, but my boss should be given credit for building an empire out of scratch, that too just in seven years. I had done some research on him while working here. After he left army he started with being bodyguard to some affluent person, soon he enrolled his army friends with him and boom he had his own security agency. After success in providing security personnel to influencing people, he started with providing security systems to banks, government structures, mansions and extravagant houses of celebrities and every edifice that required protection and stored valuables. As if that was not enough, they started manufacturing security vaults and lockers. AND now they are venturing into cybersecurity as well. Huff. This man is something. Of course he must have got help from his rich family, maybe...

"Hey!" Someone called out breaking my bubble of thoughts.
I looked up to see Mr. Richard Anderson standing in front of me.

"Hey ?" I replied what is he doing here? Do I need to say he was looking handsome in grey T-shirt, black jeans and black overcoat. Today his hair was done in half bun.

I had hardly seen him around as I was glued to my workplace and was made to slog by my boss.

"Do you mind if I joined." He asked

I was taken back a bit, Mr. Richard Anderson, CEO of Anderson group having road side food was unbelievable.

"You want to sit here and have this food?" I asked, pointing at my dish. I always imagined Anderson brothers of eating food from some 5-star restaurant rather than from a paper plate.

"Why not, I have lived some part of my life on streets eating some awful stuff, this is a feast in front of them." He said

Did I hear right? These filthy rich brothers had spent part of their life on streets???. I can't believe it. I looked at him with puzzle, and he changed the topic, maybe regretting telling me about his past. I, too, didn't press much or asked further. Maybe their dad had given them a lesson on 'being poor'.

"How are things with bro?" he asked.

I shrugged, "Manageable I guess, but I love working here" I really love working at Anderson group, I had made friends and enjoyed my time with them.

He nodded knowingly, looking at me with those intense eyes of his.
"He is a very nice person, just a bit of army is still stuck to him."

"A bit, he treats his office as an army base and all his employees as comrades." I said

He laughed heartily, making my heart skip a beat. He was such a handsome and elegant man and still, he was sitting with me on a roadside joint comfortably as if it was the most normal thing for him.

He ordered food for himself, and we chatted for some time. I was having the best time of my life

But my time was up, and I left for office. A yelling per day was enough.
