"Sunshine..."

I called my lovely new wife as I entered our home. I had been to our factory as it had some issues and got late to reach home. After getting married, my family had alienated me. I had no idea what were they up to. Lia's wedding was just 2 weeks away, and I know nothing about it. And Richard… I know nothing about him. I don't know how he is taking everything. I and Jia had joined office two days back, but he was not there too. I will visit him tomorrow, maybe.

I saw Jia's bag thrown on the couch and it's items spilled out, her stilelottos on the carpet and her coat flunked on the Ottoman. She and her friends had warned me that she was clumsy and messy, but I was experiencing it the first time. I called her again to get no response.

I glanced in the kitchen and backyard, but she was nowhere. Thinking possibly she is in the bedroom, I made my way up. The bedroom was empty too, and it made me worry. It was late in the night, almost past 11pm. Where did she go? Turning around, I saw the washroom door ajar. I went inside and saw her sitting on the toilet seat, staring at something in her hand. Making my way to her, I crouched down to her level.

"Sunshine, are you ok?" I asked with concern, she looked tensed.

"I am late." She mumbled, giving me a vulnerable look. 'Late?' I got confused late for what, then I saw a pregnancy test stick in her hand. Oh. She is late in her cycle. Is it possible? Isn't it too early. We just got married and took precautions too. They are not 100 percent safe, though… The way we were going at it... anything is possible.

"Stacey suggested I should take a test...do you think I am ...It's too... early....we just got married Vik...I am not ready. It's a huge responsibility...I..I am scared."she spoke my mind aloud.

"It's ok, it is ok. Sunshine." I took her in my arms and caressed her hair. I was scared too. I wanted to be a father, but at the right time. This was so all of a sudden.

"Umm it is common to be delayed for a few days. Isn't it? Maybe you are not pregnant. Do you experienced any other symptoms?" I kissed her hair.

"Nothing much, just a bit of weakness...but what if I am pregnant." She whispered against my chest.

"Then you will make me the happiest man alive. I know our baby thought of giving us a surprise by coming up earlier than we had planned, but we will welcome him or her with happiness and love." I said, cupping her cheeks and looking deep in her eyes. I don't want her to feel burden with the news.

"What if I can't take care of him or her properly? I can't even take care of myself" she huffed.

"You are not alone in this, baby. We are together. I will be with you in each and every phase. We will figure out how to be good parents." I assured her.

"Should we do this." I told her, taking her hand in mine.

"Hmm. Can you turn around." She bit her lower lip saying that, and I raised my brows at her.

"Come on, I don't want you to see me peeing" she scoffed.

I got up and turned around, giving her privacy. And after a few minutes, she asked me to turn. She kept the stick on the counter and stared at herself in the mirror. I went and hugged her from behind and kissed her temple.

"Don't worry, you will be a great mother." She closed her eyes and leaned into to me.

"Just be with me always" she pleaded.

"Always." I promised her as I tightened my arms around her. She is my life. I love her and it would be so wonderful to see her carry our child.

As the timer on her mobile went off, Jia looked at the stick, I too peeped at it my with heart going crazy. There was silence as both of us were registering the result. I don't know if I was sad, happy for relieved as stick showed single line.

We then stared at each other through the mirror. Jia's face showed a bit of sadness.

"Are you sad?" I asked her.

"I don't know what I am feeling" she shrugged and pressed her lips in a thin line.
"This is confusing. I was so freaked out at the thought of being pregnant, and now that I am not. I am not happy, either."

"Your mind had prepared you for the possibility. I was confused, too. I think now that we were somewhat ready for it, why not give it a try?" I whispered in her ears while snuggling my face in her hair.

"Mr Anderson, aren't we going too fast." She giggled as I rubbed my nose on her neck.

"I don't think so" I turned her to face me and captured her lips saying that. What followed was our way of showing love to each other.
