"Seriously? Tu internship reject kardega?" Maan asked the next day in college.(This is Maan)
Ayaan nodded slowly. "Aur Kar bhi sakta hoon? Mom ne seedha seedha mana kardiya." The two of them were sitting in the canteen, having just finished their lunch. Most of the kids had already left for afternoon classes.
Maan was sympathetic. "Sucks, yaar. I know tera kitna man tha jaane ka."
Ayaan sighed. He still felt dejected about it."Haa, but Mom bilkul nahi maani. Bhaiya ne baat ki tabhi bhi nahi. Ulta unhone to ye kaha hai ki mai chuttiyon mai summer school jaunga. Business management pe course karne ke liye."
Maan shook his head. "Damn. Tujhe to business studies bilkul pasand nahi hai."
Ayaan nodded again, glum.
"To abhi aage kya karega tu?" Maan asked thoughtfully, "business hi karega kya? Tujhe to artist banna hai."
Ayaan-"Honestly, I don't know. Mom ne to kahaa hai ki mai business hi karoonga. Bhaiya keh rahe hai ki saare options ek baar dekh loon, phir mai decide kar sakta hoon. So let's see. Jaake dekhunga ek baar summer school." Just then, an idea popped into Ayaan's head. He sat up straight and turned to Maan.
Ayaan-"Tu bhi chalna mere saath! Tere aur koi plans nahi hai na chuttiyon ke liye? Phir chal mere saath!" Ayaan was sure summer school was going to be awful, but it would be less awful if he had his best friend by his side.
Maan was hesitant. "Chuttiyon main bhi school? Aur ye saal ki aakhri chuttiyaan bhi hai..."
Ayaan pleaded, "Please na yaar. Waise bhi tujhe to aage jaake apna family business join to karna hai hi, hai na? Chal na, pleaseee?"
Maan looked at his best friend. He didn't want to go to school in the holidays, but then again, what would he do without Ayaan anyway? The two of them almosy always made plans for holidays together.
Finally, he said, "Theek hai. Ek baar mai Ahil bhaiya se poochta hoo, phir dekhte hai..."
Ayaan, eagerly. "Sacchi?" Maan nodded. Ayaan grasped his arms in excitement. "Yes! Maan, meri jaan, tu sachme duniya ka sabse acha dost hai! Tu nahi hota to mai kya-"
"Haa haa, theek hai, bas," Maan laughed, "Thode buttering bacha ke rakh, Jab tu tera next assignment mujhse likhwaega tab ke liye." He looked at the time. "Chal, abhi break Khatam hone hi wala hai. Come on."
The two of them got up and started making their way back to class. Ayaan was in a better mood now, knowing that at least Maan would be by his side through whatever misery summer school bought.
