"Listen, I can explain. I..." She cuts me off.

"What is your problem? What was so interesting about our conversation that you had to listen? Oh wait now you have some tea to gossip around, isn't that the case? Go tell everyone Zoye is an orphan, I don't care." She does. Her voice breaks.

As I open my mouth to say something she walks away without listening to me.

Oh God why does that girl never let me say anything?

"Shoot shoot shoot" Ayan screams.

Ayan's phone starts ringing. "Damn, hey take this and make sure I win." He winks towards Mehar saying this as he throws the controller to her and walks out of the room taking the call.

"Okay you ready to lose." Mehar scoffs.

We start playing but my mind is somewhere else. My mind feels like a spider web full of explanations.

"Where's your mind, Zain?"

"What, did you say something?"

Mehar rolls her eyes "I said where are you lost?"

"I already paused the game five minutes ago and you are still pressing that button."

I see my thumb still jumbling with the toggle key. I stop and keep the controller on the table.

"It's nothing. I'm just tired."

"Don't put on an act in front of me. Just tell me what's on your mind."

"Actually, there's been a misunderstanding. I accidentally heard someone's conversation which was supposed to be personal."

Mehar raises her eyebrow in question "How can you accidentally hear someone's conversation?"

"Well, I was in my dad's office when the conversation happened."

"Okay and they did not see you. Did you become invisible or what?"

I nervously laugh and start scrapping my head.

"The thing is I was hiding."

Mehar starts rubbing her forehead skeptically. "And why were you hiding in your dad's office?"

"See I thought dad won't be in his office, so I went there to bunk my class but then suddenly someone came into the room. I thought it was dad, so I quickly hide. You know if dad found I was bunking; he would have made a big fuss out of it."

Mehar takes a deep breath and asks "What did you actually hear? I mean what kind of conversation would someone have with the principal."

"I'm sorry Mehar but I can't tell. She already thinks I did it deliberately."

"So, it's a 'she'. Is it about that new girl?"

My eyes become wide open. "How did you know?"

"The way you are losing your mind, it was obvious. But one thing I don't understand is why are you caring so much of what she thinks of you?"

"Of course, I do. She allegedly thinks wrong of me. If it would have been anyone I would have been concerned." Or maybe not. Maybe I just don't want her to think wrong of me but why?

"Anyways in that case explain yourself to her."

I quickly get up and say, "You are right; I should make myself clear."

"Wait, where are you going? Do you know where she will be right now?"

"Oh, right I don't know. I guess I should wait for tomorrow then. Nevertheless, thanks Mehar."

"What are you thanking my girlfriend for?" Ayan questions standing on the door. As he asks this, he comes and keeps his hand on her shoulder.

"Nothing and don't forget she was my friend way before she became your girlfriend."

"Yeah, whatever. Mehar you were hungry, so I ordered some pizza for dinner."
