My heart beats with the sway of the sea.
I know there has to be moonlight glowing
Over each pale crest of water,
But dark clouds swell and thunder
When I recall how their eyes melted me into dust;
Every sharp voice gorged on my hunger.
Hot tears burn my face until the moon stares.
I turn to you. Fear percolates where
Bright dreams used to heal red-eyed sorrows,
Blossoming into warm laughing tomorrows.
But tonight, all I have is the softness of your touch
To still all that trembles within me.
