I am Acantha, Queen of Thorns, I am the crown and scepter—
I am all your world mourns, the divine debt collector.
Your bones, they glow like water in the faint starlight,
Begging to be seen by faraway eyes.
Everyone loves a petal when she's soft,
When her silken heart can be folded and tossed
Into something she's not.
You want to forget me, my memories are icy pearls against your neck.
It's my piercing hand that catches your interest.
I want what you fear, and the sins you have done
To cover them. I want the souls you've crushed,
The diamonds you've ground into dust.
I want what cannot fade,
Your pounding heart, your racing mind
Pressed like flowers between the pages
In my Book of Days. You'll never find
What you need, repenting through the ages.
You have my touch, forever shattering
The stares and sneers you never thought
Mattered.
