The merman swiftly plunged beneath the waves. "That was too close!" He reprimanded himself. That human might have noticed me!
He knew that he wasn't supposed to go that near to shore, but he had thought that since no one lived near the beach, he would go and look at it. It was a very mystifying and wonderful place. But the sea is much more beautiful, and is a great deal larger than any land. I suppose that human had just wandered into the wilderness. No one lives there... most likely. It's probably safe to go back later. I can see why someone would want to live there, though.
