Nadin quickly swam to the palace. The King had not gone to the surface with the others. Even though he was concerned for Etrela, he was more furious at whoever had shot her with his Trident. He knew Kosrae would think it was he who had zapped her, so he had stayed behind to look for the person who stole it. Now Nadin swam up to him. "Your majesty, Etrela is awake. She is fine, but human again. Kosrae wishes you to come up to the surface and transform her back into a mermaid."
"I can't." He said sadly. "Someone has taken my Trident, and without it, I cannot turn her into anything. Would you help me look for the scoundrel who took it? Once I find it, I promise I will turn her into a mermaid again."
"Sir, I know who took it. Alivina did. I saw her face. It was her. She had the Trident in her hand and used it to turn Etrela back into a human after knocking her senseless."
The king looked dismayed. "She knocked her unconscious? That isn't part of the Trident's power. Where is she?"
"I do not know, sir. She must have left after she turned Etrela into a human."
"Well then, let's find her! Where does she live?"
"I know the way."
