She aims to fulfill her childhood dream and become a famous actress. However, her sister is still out to get her and she has to avoid all her underhanded schemes.

I haven't recommended many modern day novels because I don't read them as much, but I do happen to LOVE this one.

This novel was lying around on my list for the longest time because I was afraid it was going to be another typical pregnant girl-cold billionaire novel, so I didn't try it till I saw that it had a comic on the app WebComic. For those of you who don't know about it, WebComic is an app that has free translated Chinese comics and manhuas—official ones, not the fan translated ones on other manga apps. I found so many good things to read and binged through half a dozen stories in one week. I was impressed that the update rates were pretty constant. (Expect some of these stories to come up as recommendations on here soon).

Anyway, I saw that this novel had a comic version and thought why not. Though it is a bit like what I expected it was going to be, to my surprise, I loved it. I flew through all the released comic chapters in a short time and then grew curious about the novel, which turned out to be even better than its webcomic and has 1000+ chapters released. The manhua version of the novel—separate from the webcomic—is more loyal to the novel, and in my opinion, has better art, if anyone wants to try it.

There were many things to like here, the first being the little bun the MC saves. He's so cute and is very possessive of her, throwing tantrums when he can't visit her, eagerly waiting for her phone calls, eating his veggies obediently just because she asked him to, drawing beautiful portraits of her (at age five), and even fighting with his father for her attention.

Ning Xi is also a likable female lead. Though her goal is revenge, it's not the thing that drives her and shapes all her decisions; she has dreams of her own and wants to rise for herself, not just so that she could see her enemies fall. No matter her fame and money, she never lets herself get completely arrogant. She's a kind and amiable person, but she's also not afraid of punching jerks and outwitting her rivals. Because this is in the modern world, she doesn't kill her enemies. Instead, they, who are celebrities and pesky rich people, are destroyed socially and economically to the point that they are practically an internet meme to be mocked and laughed at by the world.

We can't forget the male lead, little bun's father. He's cold but not in an unlikable or overused way. There is this cluelessness to him that creates funny misunderstandings and fluffy situations between him and the MC. This guy was ready to pay Ning Xi with his body as his in thanks to her for saving his son (naturally, she said no). He gets jealous whenever she showers only his son with love, and shows her again and again how loving of a husband he can be. Though he was ready to make her his right away in the beginning, he didn't force her and instead decided to move slowly with trying to get her to return his feelings, an admirable feat.
